I don't know who wrote that false review about ""beware of David Munson"" but they are obviously an internet troll. I've been taking my two dogs to David for 5 years now and I would NEVER drop them off with anyone that I didn't trust! David always does a great job with grooming my dogs. On top of that, my babies love to see him. As long as my dogs are comfortable, I'm comfortable.
I have been taking my dog to David for years now and have had a wonderful experience with both him and Hollywood Hounds! We visit every 2 weeks faithfully and woudl NEVER go anywhere else. My dog cant wait to get in to see him and loves him to pieces!! I'm not sure where the misguided review below came from, but I'm sure it didn't come from an honest customer. I stand behind my groomer and refer people to him whenever i can.

I have been going here for years now. My dog loves the atmosphere and always comes home in a good mood. Where other dog walkers/groomers treat their ""clients"" just as a meal ticket, Johnny and Ty truly take an interest in knowing and caring for the the dogs in their care. I recommend them to everyone who cares about their pet. You really get your money?s worth on the dog walking and overnight stays. I have used other kennels prior and it takes my dog a week to forgive me when I get back to town. With Johnny and Ty she doesn't want to come home!! I highly recommend them!!!

I would give this place negative stars if I could. I just got home from my picking up my dogs and I had to sit down and compose myself before I could write this. This is the second time that I have taken my dogs to be groomed here and the first time was great. David, the groomer, was very nice and he did exactly what I asked for, lion cuts. I have a yorkie and a shih tzu. The yorkies ears aren't clipped so he is kinda floppy and terribly cute... Well he was! When I arrived at Hollywood Hounds this morning, David was running late so I waited around because I wanted to show him a picture just to refresh his memory. I showed him a picture of how I always have my yorkie groomed and pointed out that I like to keep his beard really full because he is a little chubby and I like him to be more on the fluffy side. Let me say this again, I waited for him to show up to make sure he knew exactly what to do. I went as far as to pull out pictures. As far as the shih tzu is concerned I just said lion cut which any groomer should know how to do. Well after five hours I returned to pick up my pups and I stupidly went to the desk and paid. Last time I was here the price was $50 per dog. So I had grabbed $120, enough to pay and tip. Today the woman at the front told me that the price was $55 per dog so the total was $110. I paid it and she told me it would be a minute and that I should have a seat. Instead I ran out to the car to get more cash so I had enough to tip David. When I came back in, my heart sank. My shih tzu looked fine except for his cut was a little lopsided but cutting a dogs hair is extremely difficult so, okay, no big deal. My yorkie on the other hand was completely shaved. His body, his face, his tail was cut very short. He doesn't even look like my dog. I immediately asked to talk to David. When I asked him why he did this when I specifically asked him to keep his face full, his response was, ohh whoops I thought you were talking about the other dog... WHAT?! I SHOWED HIM PICTURES!!! My dogs look nothing alike. There is no way he got them confused. He didn't apologize, he just said, ""well, it'll grow back"". I am a hairdresser, that is the least professional thing that you could say in this situation. I would never let someone walk out of the salon with a hair that they'll like in six months! I demanded a refund. The girl at the front offered me $10 off. Just insulting... It was my fault for paying before I saw the dogs but I had such a great
I have been taking my dog Irene to David for 3 years. He has never been anything but a professional. He is an amazing groomer and GREAT with Irene. While on vacation, I took her to another dog groomer and she wouldn't get near him -- she runs to David with open arms. I also love the array of scents he elects to bestow on Irene, surprising me every time. And of course, she always looks great!
I'm not sure who the gentleman is who posted the 4/6 post, but he is obviously lying and unnecessarily disparaging a person who is nothing but a professional.
Please take your dog to David and let him know Krissy recommended him
I had to share our very positive grooming experience for our baby Phoebe-our gorgeous black lab. After trying different grooming salons across Cali we have found our new home away from home. Phoebe smells so delish after the wonderful grooming job done by Mr. David. I just love the bow she received after her bath. She enjoyed her visit so much & didn't want to leave. The loving care shown to her made us feel comforted in knowing our baby was being taken care of by special, capable, & very loving hands. You really feel a sense that Mr. David truly enjoys his profession. Can't wait til Phoebe's next visit. Would recommend this establishment to anyone who loves their babies(doggies) as much as we do. Kudos, great job :)

I have been taking my dog there for 4 months now and they are great! He was naturally shy but has learned how to socialize with other dogs. The staff is fantastic, always excited to see the dogs - know owners and pets names. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Great if you want a tired dog afterwards!

This is my second shot at doggie daycare in LA and the first that doesn't smell like a urinal—the place is clean.
My dog is a very strong 1 year old bulldog who was in need of learning boundaries and how to socialize with other dogs. The staff was more than understanding about her needs and training and it shows. After a few months of attending daycare my dog is way more chill around other dogs and as stubborn as she is she is much more in tune with commands.
My dog loves this place. She nearly rips my arm off to get inside in the morning and always leaves with a smile.
It is a total relief to find a place close by where she can play with other big dogs and get exercise in a safe and supervised environment.
It's too bad that jtalavera had a bad experience. I can only comment on mine.

the worst place for dogs ever!
when i called the first time i got a girl who stuttered at me and had no idea how to answer my questions, just kinda said uh umm....
so i came in to see the place. this was in September. there was a huge russian man yelling at the dogs to stop barking with a squirt bottle in his hand. he was so upset he didnt even notice me come in. he seemed upset that i had come in without a dog. i told him i came to ask questions about boarding and day care. i asked him how long he had been there, and he said hed been there a long long time, and that he knew everything about dogs. i asked him if he was a vet and he told me no in an angry bark like i was the rude one.
i asked if i could look around and was told no as i looked over the fence that kept the big dogs separate from the small ones. when they started to bark (of course they bark...dogs bark at new people) he told me to step back cause it was upsetting them and its dangerous. he then yelled at some attendant to make the dogs stop barking. the employee seemed nice enough, got the dogs calm in a quiet way...no yelling.
anyways, i was told the facility was cage free but not allowed to look around and got a mixed reply as to where the dogs go at night. i was told to go online for prices and when i went to take the business card on the desk the man told me not to take that one, to take the big card because he was running out of business cards. hu?
i noticed some guy come in a walk circles in the court yard while on a cell phone and smoking while i was there. i found out that this was the groomer. i asked how much to get my pitbull puppy washed, that she was 5 months old. he said $45 for a bath and $65 for a deshed but he would give me $5 off my first visit. i pay $16 at pet smart!!!! is he crazy?!
i know that my price is the puppy price, but i think the adult price is $25!!
i said thank you and started to leave, and the man yelled as i left to make sure i brought my papers when i brought my dog. i left with the stink of dog peep and bleach in my nostrils and a horrible feeling that these people have no clue what they are doing.
i am never bringing my boy here! ever!!

I've been taking my cocker spaniel to Hollywood Hounds for grooming for 9 years. They always take great care of my baby and they're frienldy and personable. My dog and I always leave happy and with a beautiful haircut that she constantly gets compliments on. That's why I've been a loyal customer for 9 years. Thank you Hollywood Hounds for being the best groomers in LA!!!
My poodle is a handful But Princess has no problem going in for her grooming appointment at Hollywood Hounds. The people there are sweet and I feel care free when she's there because I know that she will get a great makeover! Her hair will be cut perfectly just like we like it and she will come out looking like the Princess that she is with her Prada on! I love it Personally I have been coming here for a year now and get compliments on my baby all the time I recommend this place to anyone who wants to pamper there puppy to a great grooming with David who is sure to please you and your pup!
Finally I have found a place for my two year old Maltipoo, Hazel to get groomed! She is usually frightened of new places and has always hated getting groomed. However, at HOLLYWOOD HOUNDS everything in her manner was different. She ran into the shop wagging her tail. I believe it was the warm atmosphere and the friendly faces that greeted her when she arrived and I was amazed.
When the groomer David came to meet her she ran to him. When she has met her groomers in the past she ran as well but in the other direction. He was kind and loving toward her and I knew she was in good hands. What I didn't know is how talented he was. I've had mixed results in the past with groomers who shaved Hazel too closely. David gave her a beautiful cut with scissors, and not only did she look great, but she even came out smelling beautiful. When I mentioned how wonderful she smelled David told me he only uses designer fragrances such as Prada, D & G and Bvlgari. WOW, I guess I do live in Hollywood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Our dog was skittish from previous bad experiences, but our excellent vet, Dr. Patrick Mahaney at TLC Pet Hospital, recommended Hollywood Hounds. What a turnaround! She immediately responded well to David, the groomer, and from her first cut on, the results have been fabulous. She doesn't resist her appointments anymore, and is happy when she sees David. Whatever variations in cuts we ask for, we get. His work is artistic, professional, and best of all, he is kind and gentle with our dog. Each cut is beautiful, she is happy, and has completely lost her anxiety about grooming. The front desk manager is also lovely to deal with. Thank you David and Hollywood Hounds!

I don't know what that Sarita woman is thinking when she wrote that review but I've been going to Hollywood Hounds with all three of my dogs for about seven months now... and I have never received anything but exemplory service, friendly interactions from the booking of my appointments to the pickups of my dogs, and the grooming has always been top notch. Their groomer pays great attention to detail, and my babies all love him. In the past at other facilities, they've been a little reluctant to go get their baths and haircuts, but with the groomer at Hollywood Hounds, they actually seem excited to go! And they always come out looking like movie stars! I for one couldn't be happier with the service there at all points, and my dogs look amazing! Take it from a parent of three different breeds large and small... the groomer at Hollywood Hounds will treat your dogs like royalty! I won't send my babies to anyone else!! Whatever this guy pulls in just isn't enough for the work and care he delivers!!

I took my 11 lb. Shih Tzu to Hollywood Hounds based on decent reviews online. It was a regular bath and haircut visit...no matting, nothing unusual. In fact, upon dropping him off, I instructed them not to shave him and to simply cut him slightly shorter and bathe him. I picked my puppy up later that day. The groomer greets me with a pathetic face, handing me my dog and telling me ""your dog bit me."" I responded in awe and concern as my dog had never bit anyone in the two years he has lived with me. He is by no means a ferocious guard dog! I asked the groomer if he was o.k. and he responded ""yeah no big deal."" In response to my surprised disposition, the groomer said ""maybe it's because he was matted on his tummy."" LIE. He wasn't. They failed to mention anything else including the small detail that they had CUT AND SLICED MY DOG WITH RAZOR BURNS ALL OVER HIS ABDOMEN AND GENITALIA. No mention of this slight detail, let alone the courtesy of some ointment or relief through the weekend (this occurred on a Saturday). In plain English, the groomer ""took the upperhand"" to deflect from the injuries he inflicted on my puppy.
In short, a routine visit to the groomer cost me $140 in emergency vet visit and treatment.
When I contacted them the next business day to inquire as to why they omitted telling me about the cuts, the receptionist transferred the phone to the groomer who screamed in my ear and said that if I submitted any paperwork to his boss about the e.r. visit, he would call Animal Control and have my dog quarantined. Outrageous or what?
While ""accidents happen"", deliberate omissions and spiteful conduct don't just happen.
The groomer at this location is a despicable human being. Spread the word and take your pet elsewhere. If you are looking for honest, professional, and friendly service for your pet, this is DEFINITELY not the place.
I have been taking my 2 beautiful Australian Shepherds to Hollywood Hounds for over 5 years now and they have always been incredibly well cared for and groomed! They are also very accommodating to my hectic work schedule and always willing to help out if I am late or need to drop my boys off early for grooming. Karen and Felix and Maya have been wonderful to Bleu and Sundance and for that I will always be grateful. As for the bad review I just read, everyone has a bad day once in a while and my opinion after 5 years should have more impact than someone who went there once. As for the owner of the dog who got bit by another dog, how do you know that they even knew about it? There is no way that Karen or Felix or Maya would allow a dog to be bit and not say anything to the owner right away, sorry they just would not do that!

Our 120 lb Newfoundland is probably dreaming about this place when he sleeps! He can't wait to get in when we drop him off and at times we get the feeling he'd rather stay when we come to pick him up. The staff is wonderful and so friendly and you can tell they really just love their work and all these little ""kids"" they care for. We really trust and enjoy them.
