Adolescent gynecology: Growing girls and young women have both medical and emotional needs. Several WHMC physicians are trained and experienced in their care. Younger patients are often seen for pelvic pain, menstrual cramps and disorders, vulvovaginal problems, STDs, and contraceptives.

Obstetrics
Women’s Health and Menopause Center (WHMC) is dedicated to caring for women throughout every stage of their lives. Health and wellness is a priority during the teen years, for mothers-to-be, and for women experiencing menopause. Physicians offer routine gynecologic and breast care, family planning and obstetrics, and menopause care, and are mindful of the overall wellness of every patient. In fact, two of our physicians are active members of the North American Menopause Society and hold certifications as menopausal clinicians.

Endometriosis: This is a condition in which the tissue that normally lines the uterus (endometrium) grows in other areas of the body. It can cause pain, irregular bleeding, and possible infertility.

Holistic health is Nicki’s focus and passion. She believes that our bodies and our mental wellness are connected and that change happens incrementally. Small changes made today can have profound impacts on physical and mental health in the future. Working within an integrated health framework, Nicki will coordinate with the team at WHMC to ensure that clients receive comprehensive and whole person support to optimize their outcomes. Nicki resides in the Upper Peninsula with her husband and two young children, so all services will be provided remotely, offering increased patient access and convenience.

I have been a patient here for over 15 years. I can’t say enough about this practice. They delivered my daughter and I could not have asked for a better experience. With my second pregnancy, at my 20 week ultrasound we found out that my son had a very rare congenital heart defect.
Radiology

Minimally Invasive Surgery
Dr. Adelman’s specialty interests are gynecologic care, hysteroscopy, endometrial ablation for excessive vaginal bleeding, medical alternatives to surgery and minimally invasive surgery.
Hysterectomy
Hysterectomy: In some cases, removing the uterus may be necessary to treat certain conditions, including cancer and large fibroids. It may be done through the vagina or through in an incision in the abdomen. There are also many alternatives to hysterectomy.
Endometrial Ablation
Endometrial ablation: An in-office procedure, endometrial ablation is used to control heavy or prolonged bleeding. The physician uses laser, heat, or a freezing technique and local anesthesia.
Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy: A minimally-invasive surgical technique that uses thin instruments inserted into small incisions, usually in the abdomen. Laparoscopy is often used to diagnose and treat endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy and pelvic inflammatory disease.
