While I haven't tried absolutely everything on the menu, this "hole in the wall" that is located in a former Del Taco building is probably some of the best Mexican food I've found since moving to the Truckee Meadows over four years ago from Lake Tahoe and over 10 years ago from Los Angeles. I've had the Carne Asada tacos and burritos. The best burrito I've had was made with Carnitas. The tamales (only available in Pork or Chicken) are as good as my mom ever made (sorry mom). Just the right texture and seasoning. You can have the tamales dry or with an Enchilada sauce. The best tacos I've had were made with Lengua (tounge). They also offer what some would consider more exotic ingredients like tripe and head but certainly more traditional meats are available. They offer breakfast (the Chorizo con Huevo is excellent), lunch specials, platters, desserts, and a drive-thru. The place may not look like much and the TV is a little loud sometimes, but overall I think anyone that visits will be throughly satisfied. Update: I just went by this place last night to try and get some food for work. The place is closed. There is a sign out front telling everyone that they had a fire. There is burnt insulation in front. They don't know when they will reopen. I'm sad. This is my favorite taqueria in Reno :(
Upon entering Aldertos FMF restaurant, my very first time in fact, I noticed how clean it was. Also jumping ahead, I used the restroom in which a key is needed. I liked that because I knew you had to pass muster to use it. There are bums everywhere in this town...just sayin. It was sparkly clean and stocked! The food choices are many and there are combos available. The staff was well dressed in the kitchen area and it looked clean from where I stood at the counter. My choice was the chicken quesadilla and it was huge. Delicious, a little red greasy from the wonderful spices. The price was perfect. I intend on bringing the rest of the family on my next visit. Way to go boys!
I tried this place last week and i liked it alot. The salad was amazing, and we also ordered a tofu stir fry dish. Super healthy and the veggies and tofu were cooked perfectly. You can tell that lots of love goes into each dish made. On our way out we grabbed a white chocolate and blueberry coffee cake that was to die for. I recomend for an intimate evening out with some healthy grub.
Terrific meal we ordered the shrimp enchiladas and the chile rellenos and both of the dishes were very tasty. We think that the sauces and the service were excellent. The only downer of the meal was this sopapillas dessert which was not that good but since it only costs $0.25 with your meal it wasn't that important. We would definitely recommend going there for a good Mexican meal.
The prices are very fair, the place is very clean and everyone is very friendly. the food is Very authentic and flavorful, fresh made salsas and so on just like home cooking eno the chips were fresh! You can even choose to have hand made tortillas as an option. This is certainly a place the locals eat and one of the best kept secrets in Reno!
Every time I go to this resteraunt with my husband..we always get service pretty fast and the food gets served real fast as well. They also have one of the best margeritas in this town that I have found so far. The food is done the way I like my mexican food done! Its a nice quiet place and well priced...with excellent food!
Our satellite TV installer told us this was the best Mexican Restaurant in the area..... and he was right! This charmer was worth the 50 mi. round trip for the tamales and the great chile rellenos......and the wonderful hospitality. Also try the chicken chimichanga, yum, and ask about the live music in the bar.
I didn't care for the margaritas to much Ice the drinks where watered down hardly any tequila in it so being disappointed with that I was expecting crap food! Boy was I surprised the fajitas I had where fabulous so good I'm still thinking about them. I'm drooling writing this review. Yummy! Kelly M.
It's like stepping into old Mexico. Excellent food. My favorite, the chili rellinos and, until tonight, the flan. Please please return to your old flan recipe that was fresh, oh so sweet and just a little lumpy. Tonight's new recipe experiment did not measure up to your ususal high standards.
We, I and my husband use to work there, and believe me! It 's a great placeto go drink eat and listen to the band on weekends!! Mich the owner will even play for you, so if you go to Reno please go there you will not forget that night, have fun!! : ))
