Overall

My Wife and I looked for a high quality, high standard crib that converts to a bed for our new born. Natural wood furniture companies stopped making them because of high regulation standards. So, we went with the next best thing. One of those natural wood furniture stores recommended lakeland baby & teen furniture. We went to the store in Wayne, NJ. The Son of the owner was very helpful and informative. We decided to go with a natural wood looking crib and matching dresser. They did deliver it on the day specified. After they left we noticed 2 chips on the dresser. The coating on the dresser, and crib, can be easily chipped off. I don’t understand how this could be if the standards of regulation are so high. Children grow teeth and chew on cribs. Nevertheless, I informed the Son and he said perhaps they can mail over a marker to fix it up. I said no. The Son said it was out of his hands and referred us to his Father, the owner. The Father said that they can send someone over to replace the top. I spoke of the easily chipped furniture and the fact that this product was inferior. He said that the delivery persons did not see any chipping on the dresser. I told him that it was obvious they didn’t see it because (hopefully) they would have taken it away immediately. He said he would take it back but would charge me a 15% restocking fee. I asked him to contact the company that make the furniture and get me a full refund. After some more talking (just close arguing), he said he would contact the company. After some days, I contacted him (he didn’t call me), and he informed me that he would have to take that dresser back, touch it up and resell it on the selling floor at a discounted price. He would also have to charge me a 15% restocking fee. I was agitated and didn’t want to further ruin my joyous occasion of the birth of our child. So, I told hime to please get the dresser out of my home and to take his 15%. I decided to stay with the crib so not to further frustrate myself and my family. This was bad businesses. Hopefully this will help you decided whether or not to deal with this business.
