This place was a TOTALl disappointment. We took two of our dogs there for an overnight this July- we checked it out in June and it seemed okay. If the same woman had been there for the consultation as was there when we dropped off for an overnight, I would have never booked petsitting there.
When we arrived to drop them off the woman working was really strange; she was running around spraying cleaner on the supposedly clean room they had prepared for my dog. We had called ahead so they knew we were coming so it seemed odd. She wasn't wiping it up or anything, just spraying everywhere, and my dog is very allergic, which we had gone over and over about on my consultation. When I mentioned that to the crazy cleaning lady she seemed unfazed and said ""it kills germs""- hmmmmm most cleaners do but is the room clean or not? And allergies were my concern, not germs. Sure enough, our dog was irritated by the cleaner cloud and her skin was quite pink the next day.
We had also requested that they take out breakables, such as the TV, in the room. When we arrived there was ceramic vase in our dogs' room, on a ledge by the door. Uh...hello? My dog doesn't need knickknacks, especially breakables.
We had left individual portions of food, measured out and labeled. We had also brought a few extra meals just in case. When we arrived the next day they had fed all the food to out dogs, overfeeding one of them and wasting the food of the one who wasn't interested in eating in that stressful environment. Their inability to get feeding right for a short time, just 24 hours, even when it was prepacked and labeled, made me realize that they wouldn't be able to give medication or follow any specialized instructions.
When we came to pick up our dogs, the woman couldn't find the check we had left a month previously for the deposit. They had no records: very disorganized and messy. It took almost an hour for her to figure it out, she couldn't contact the other worker who we had given check to because she said she ""couldn't find her number"" ...wow- what if there was an emergency?
Upon talking with other dog lovers after our experience at Dogtopia, I have heard other terrible reviews. Since we chose them partly based on the two positive reviews here on this website, I felt we should put our experience out there for others to consider when searching for a kennel. I would never recommend them, and in fact would warn people, especially with dogs with special needs or medications, to avoid this business all together.

I was worried about leaving my two small dogs at a kennel and then my vet recommended Dogtopia. My dogs get excited as soon as we pull into her driveway! It is an indoor boarding facility with private rooms with covered patios, couches or beds for your loved ones, a tv or radio on request and even an electric fireplace if you request one for your pups!! The owner is awesome and understands that each breed of dog is different which is amazing. Her staff are GREAT!! Each dog gets ""play time"" with the staff and they even go to play in the exercise yard. It is the ONLY place I would ever leave my dogs...forget the kennels..take them here and you will never go anywhere else!! She is always FULL so make reservations WAY in advance. When they have a cancellation they are so nice to call you and let you know so you can bring them in or as in my case I wasn't going to be able to make it back when I expected and they had no problems keeping them until the next day...Thanks Angie and staff...my pups and me thank u!
Dogtopia Suites is the best place my dogs have ever been to. My dogs did not want to leave when i came to get them. The owner was very nice and respectful to me and was actually sad to see my dogs go home because she had so much fun with them. Anyone who loves thier dog should go and at least see dogtopia suites. It should be renamed dogtopia heven.
I just read the first review of Dogtopia and was really stunned. We, on the other hand, got outstanding service. Jack, our exceptionally spoiled Cocker Spaniel, had the time of his life. When we came to pick him up, he ran to us and then ran back into the "play area" to play some more. He was even given his "favorite toy" to take home. The staff was great with him and with us.

We'd only kenneled our dog once before and it was awful. We're so anxious about having to leave her again, so we've been checking out local places near Palmer/Wasilla. After our vet recommended we check out Dogtopia, we actually went to another one before Dogtopia...now that we found Dogtopia, we need look no further!
Each dog literally has his/her own condo...not a chain linked cell, but a sound proofed (more or less) room with a couch, radio or tv, and a door to their own solid walled patio area with a chain linked third wall to the outdoors. All is covered. There are playtimes that can either be solo, or with owner approval and Dogtopia's staff's approval, you dog can get socialization time with other dogs.
The owner of Dogtopia lives just down the way and does the morning routine by 7:30/8am and last call for puppy love is close to 10pm. They are treated just as you'd hope they would be at a kennel....but it's not even a kennel. It's a home away from home! Sure, the rates are 1/3 higher, but the peace of mind...and not coming back to a stressed and anxious dog...priceless!
If you are unsure of where to take your dog when you're away...check with Dogtopia. You may just find that this is your last stop! :)
i took my dogs to this so called "dogs home away from home" and they were treated horribly!!!! This was there first experience away from home and away from me and when i went to pick them up not only was the owner Angela rude my dogs had been locked in their room all day the last day that they were there, under watered, and starving to death when I got them home and fed them. I would not recomend this "dogtopia" to anyone unless of course you do not like your dog!!!!
I would like to let everyone know that these 2 Great Danes were so completely antisocial and scared of everything and everyone because the owner never socialized them that they had become dangerous for themselves, myself and my staff to be around. I told her we would not take them back again & that she should rehome them if she couldnt find time for them that is why she is so angry. We worked very hard to make these two comfortable and happy but when you lock any dog in an airline crate for up to 12 hours a day where they have to poddy lay in it while you are at work, they become a shell of a dog & cannot form a bond with humans. If we had any kind of channel in Ak to remove a dog(s)from their home because of abuse (abuse comes in many forms) I would have turned them in!!! The accusations made were rediculous except for leaving them in their 10 by 10 private room with a covered outside area same size as their room. the dogs were harming themselves smashing into fencing and walls because of extreme fear and anxiety(owners fault) their room was a safe place for them. Great Danes are an amazing breed I love them, the Dane I adopted many years ago was wonderful & a lot of love patience & time went into my boy Prince until he passed. Happily, & this is something I heard second hand, the danes were both given up & are no longer with this woman, thank God!!! I offer up to anyone interested to drop by my hotel & check us out!!! It is all about the 4 legged kids, we love and appreciate all of our dogs and their loving owners! VERY SINCERELY, Angela Rinkevage, owner of Dogtopia Suites
