It is easy to walk to anywhere in D.C. from this hotel. We appreciated that our rooms were tucked away in a corner.
Great location with a friendly staff and clean rooms.
We arrived at 7am and they let us check in. We were very happy considering how little we paid! It is close to the White House, one of the hop on-hop off buses stops out front, and there is plenty to eat close by. We would stay again, the price makes it well worth it
Hotel Harrington is one of the few places where a family can get multiple beds in the same room, which, traveling with children and grandchildren, was the most important thing we were searching for.. While a little outdated, it is 100 years old, it is clean and comfortable, offers free WIFI, and has competent and courteous staff. The Harrington is withoin walking distance to the Whitehouse, Smithsonian, etc. They also have the least expensive in-and-out parking of any hotel we considered in the vicinity.. There are plenty of restaurants, drugstores, etc. within a block or so, so it is super convenient to anything you might need.
If you are looking for luxury, this is not the hotel for you. If you are looking for a hotel that is affordable, clean, and located within walking distance of the tourist sites the Hotel Harrington is the place to be. The rooms are small but very clean. My room had two double beds, a fridge, and a flat screen TV. There is Wi-Fi in the hotel and a computer to use in the lobby. There is a restaurant on property and Harry's is right next door that seemed to be bustling with people. Vending and Ice machines are available on designated floors. My room was quite hot but opening the window helped. I was not bothered by the street noise. Would I stay there again? You bet! Kudos to Roxanna with the House Keeping staff. She was so sweet!
The hotel is in the older building that shows in narrow hallways and small elevator. But if you can bypass the old building feel the hotel is clean and located in the heart of DC. Walking distance to most attractions. 24-hr full-access parking in nearby parking garage for unbeatable price. The room was a little small but that's the old building charm. Clean with all basics needed. No breakfast but there are many places nearby to grab a bite, including adjacent restaurant. Best value in the area for this great location. No business center but they have a computer and a printer in the lobby; busy so allow amole time if needed. Late checkout at 1pm (?!)- very busy hotel. I would recommend for people on the budget that want to stay in central DC.
If my daughter hadn't already been here on a school trip I wouldn't have booked it, but she said it was comfortable. The service was great, and value for money re location was fantastic. The rooms are very old, but the beds very comfortable. We had all we needed, and slept well. Couldn't really ask for more, from such an old hotel.
We stayed at The Hotel Harrington June 28 - July 5th. The Hotel is located between the White House and The Ford Theater and 2 blocks from the Mall. Within walking distance of several METRO stations. Three restaurants in the hotel. We had 4 people in our group and reserved a two bedroom suite, which allow each kid (16 and 13 years old) to have their own bed and we had two bathrooms for approximately $20.00 more than a 2 Queen bed room. The rooms had an accordion door between them which was nice at the end of the night. We requested a quiet room, and ended up on the 11th floor and it was quiet. We did bring an outlet strip with us to plug in our multiple electronic devices since this historic hotel has limited outlets. Bathrooms were very clean. Rooms were clean as well. No continental breakfast but we had a coffee maker, fridge and microwave in our room. Were able to park our car a block away for 17.00 per day. We never used our car since we close to everything. If you are looking for simple clean rooms, this place is great. Lots of choices of restaurants, some shopping and Walgreens/CVS pharmacy in the next block. Employees were very friendly and helpful. Free WiFi
The people who help to run this hotel are absolutely amazing. From the lady who checked us in (Charnee), to the bellman who helped us with our luggage and was always available with directions, and who even made a special trip up to our room with a list of local restaurants with no prompting ( Felipe), to our housekeeper Louise who oozed with Southern Charm and kept our room spotless, and the owner of the two restaurants onsite (David) who spent several minutes talking with us at our table during breakfast when he heard we had a problem the night before at one his restaurants, and lastly, to (obviously) the owners who trained and hired all these wonderful people, we say THANK YOU!! Sure the hotel is old and slightly run down, but it was clean, the room was spacious and comfortable, and the location could not be beat for a tourist visiting DC. Any issues you are seeing written about by some disgruntled previous guests must have been written by people who did not check out the website before booking, since it looked exactly like the pictures on their site. We will DEFINITELY stay here again the next time we are in DC
