I brought my American-made Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster in(i bought new for $1700) to borrow $60 on (which I had done 6months prior to this)- the young women in charge would not loan me a dime, citing the scratches in the finish, and when i asked why they loaned $60 before, they said they were under new management. Sorry my guitar has been played a LOT, and not kept in a closet, but it's in perfect working order. I know for a fact that if i would have lost it in pawn, prevoiusly, they would not have sold it for less than $300, and it would have been sold in a matter of hours. And i was treated like scum of the earth for even bringing such trash as that. Took it to Kirks's Pawn down the street, no problem. I would recommend them, but not the "new management" at 39th. The rude young women in charge wouldn't know your bass from a hole in the ground.

Car salesman tactics.

Was looking at a watch, and was haggling with the supervisor, who was in turn checking in with the store manager, and both agreed on a price with me. Store manager goes into his office, and after making me wait for ten minutes, tells me he won't honor the price he just agreed to and wanted FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS more!

It was worse than buying a used car...using the old 'let me check with my manager, oops he said no' trick, except one of the people who agreed to the price actually WAS the manager! Tricksters, fraudsters and charlatans. If I could give zero or negative stars I would.

Honesty an Integrity

Old School Values ...

That is the best way to describe 39th St Pawn Shop. I started coming way back in 96 0r 97 when the owner bought out another pawn shop. Since then I have seen the staff change many times. Two things stick out the most in watching these changes. The times may have changed along with the staff ... yet the Honesty and Integrity has not. It is expressed by the owner and the manager to all the staff that come and go. In doing so they treat a customer like a person instead of profit.

I know from the experience of many years of doing business with 39th St Pawn. They have helped my family through some rough times by being honest, patient and caring.

Thank You All at 39th St Pawn

A Pawn Shop the way Pawn Shops should be.

We bought our wedding rings there in 1992 (yep, still married!), and I bought a rotary hammer drill there today. Always claen, neat and well-organized. Everything is priced fair and they will negotiate when they can. The staff is always friendly and polite. Why in the world would anyone go to the mall?!!!
