Craighead Electric Cooperative Corporation, also known as CECC, is a nonprofit agency that provides electricity services for more than 27,000 members. Established in 1937, the agency serves over five counties in northeastern Arkansas. It offers energy auditing, as well as heating and cooling analyzing services for residences and businesses. Craighead Electric Cooperative Corporation also provides the Marathon brand of water heaters and installs surge protection equipment. The agency presents safety demonstrations for schools and fire departments. In addition, it has a partnership with the Arkansas Electric Cooperative to show students how electricity is produced with coal. Craighead Electric Cooperative Corporation offers temporary and permanent overhead residential services. The agency operates several run-of-river hydropower plants for the coal- and natural gas-fired generation of electricity.
