Overall

The other reviews on here are more than five years old, I have had a different experience in the three times I've been there in recent years. We have a XC90 with 95k miles... It needs service occasionally. The team here is honest and professional, I feel confident in the repairs. You will pay dealership prices, and that can be ridiculous at times, but the confidence and knowledge makes up for that for major services and repairs.

LET THE BUYER BEWARE!
I took my volvo in for $3000 + Worth of service. When my wife picked up the car the windshield was cracked. When this was pointed out the service tech, she was told that there was a sign in the front indicating that if there were chips in the window, they were not responsible for any cracks that might happen during service.

How about the courtesy of letting my wife know that our car was unsafe because they had broken the window? We are now on the hook for $1000 so they can install a new windshield.

Incidentally, we had taken the car to Lexus in Pleasanton, prior to going to Lawrence and they didn't break our window when they were looking. We chose to go to Volvo believing they would take better care of us. BIG MISTAKE

If you are looking for the promised Volvo service and value you expected when you purchased a Volvo, and expect your car to be as safe or safer after the service do not take it to Lawence Volvo. The Service department does not take your safety seriously.

you know the reputation bad mechanics have? it's alive and well at this dealership.

I dropped by to purchase some coolant for my In-warranty XC70. Great car by the way. The service manager suggested that I leave the car with them to check it out under warranty since ""the coolant must be going somewhere since it's a sealed system"". Sounded reasonable to me and very likely true from what I know about engines.

I picked it up the next day and was greeted with a bill from the mechanic who said he could not find the leak. I told him I had added coolant before and so it must be leaking and he said ""well I don't know that that happened"". I then explained that the service manager was the one who made the diagnosis and asked to keep the car and that I was not going to pay. He let it go but I did not, and asked for the service manager. I wanted to know their thinking since this was my local dealer and would dependent on them for such things as repairs and maintainance.

The short story is a simple few quotes from the service manager there. ""We could have charged you because we could not find the problem"" and ""we could have charged you if the leak came from a failed clamp if by tightening it we fixed the leak"" get this load of bull ""because the tightening of the clamp is an adjustment and not covered under warranty""

We're not all fools and I bet many of you will see this as taking advantage of this community after living off of it for many years and that is is just inexcusable.

I have written Volvo in search of another authorized mechanic in this area. I want to purchase a 3rd car from Volvo next year but if this dealer is it I will not.
