Hi-Tech Hobbies Store

I bought a Traxxas QR-1 from hi-tech hobbies yesterday (1/22/14) and when I got it home it wouldnt work out of the box. No problem the owner said if there was an issues I could just bring t back and he'd exchange it. So I called him up this morning and told him what was going on. I explained to him that I read the manual and charged the batteries and put it on a flat surface and it wouldn't take off. I was then met with an onslaught of Im a liar and for some odd reason he began to tell me his history with radio control vehicles. He then made the tall claim that nothing he sells is ever defective and he has never had to return anything in all his years. He then said that I obviously broke it and I was just out to get him and how hard it is for him to stay in business because of people like me. excuse me? I wasnt even asking for my money back. I simply just wanted to exchange it for another one. Im not sure why that was so hard. He then told me that traxxas would never do a warranty repair or issue an rma on it. This is where I had him and knew in fact he was the one being a liar. I had called traxxas prior to calling him and the tech at traxxas sent me an rma via email and to ship it into them when I was ready and apologized for it not working out of the box. Before I hung up with them to call hi-tech hobbies the tech at traxxas said there shouldnt be any reason though why your local vendor shouldnt just exchange it for you. Well surprise surprise, straight from the horses mouth they said it was ok. So why then would the owner of hi-tech hobbies say it just not possible and all of this. I dont know if its a case of pride or a case of being cheap. I called him after i called traxxas because i wanted to work it out ont he local level and continue to do business with him. It didnt work out that way though. Either way it goes I dont appreciate being called a liar and I dont appreciate the poor customer service I received. I wasnt asking him to go above and beyond or way out of his way just to exchange a defective product. To be frank the owner is arrogant, ignorant, rude, and has a know it all attitude. He's older than I am so you'd think he would have heard the saying, " you get more with sugar than you do vinegar" I guess not though. I would give this place zero stars if i could.

This is the best hobby shop in Raleigh, NC by far! They sell a good variety of RC cars and trucks, and helicopters as well! They have a lot of spare parts if you break something, and if you can't fix it yourself, they also do repairs! The owner, Alfredo, has a vast knowledge of RC hobbies. They will also paint bodies for your cars, which is great since I can't do it myself very well.

this place is about 40 miles from my house was told about it . so took a drive let me tell ya .had every thing in stock that i needed even had the misseils for one of my copters that i could not find they had them on the wall. alfredo olguin was vary helpfull with my questons .would defftely go back . my even buy a copter from them

I bought a 2.4 Ghz R/C series 4 channel Hubsan Lynx Helo at HO-B MAX Northgate Mall in Durham, no help from them. Young black man has no customer service training. He wouldn't hear me out that the Helo was not tuning right. I took my Helo to HI-Tech hobbies store in Raleigh. Alfredo Olguin tune it. . Now it's flyable.. And I didn't even bought it there. I will go to Hi-Tech hobbies store with all my needs of R/C products. They are customer friendly and real helpful. Don't waste your time going to HO-B Max at Northgate Mall waste of your time and money. I even bought an extra set of props.

This is a great hobby store. Every time that I go, there is great customer service and they are very knowledgeable about the products that are in and out of their store. The owner, Alfredo and his staff are awesome. I don’t know how other customers feel, but this store goes above and beyond.

I had a great experience at Hi-Tech. I dropped off an old E-Maxx asking for them to take a look and see what it would take to get it back to running condition. After I dropped it off; they did a quick evaluation, replaced the motors and fixed up the clutch for me. Part prices were right in line with MSRP and they only charged me for half an hour of labor. There's no padding in that. I was very pleased with the interaction, the work, and the price. I'll definitely be back. Thanks Hi-Tech

I thought I'd write a review to say that I had a pleasant experience during my visit to Hi-Tech Hobbies. The owner (Alfredo) was very helpful in assisting me. Prices are slightly higher than you can get online, but that is expected as paying rent for a space at the mall cannot be cheap!. Prices were very reasonable and knowing that I can shoot over to the mall and pick up replacement parts when needed is a great benefit. I am an Amazon Prime member and could have spent less on the car I purchased, but I was very happy to support a local hobby shop and spend my $$$ there. Great service and great location = Lifetime customer. Keep up the good work !!

I recently purchased a Nine eagles Solo Pro RC heli at Hi-tech Hobbies. This was a gift to my older brother, and I really needed a lot of information before i made the purchase.

Alfredo the owner, took the time to show me the helicopter inside and out as well as ensure me that he stocked all the replacement parts, which is very important. we had a very nice conversation about the hobby, and he even flew two or three of his helicopters for me in the store upon my request. Alfredo is a genuine guy in the hobby industry and at this rate he will be very successful. He never once became impatient or annoyed with my thousands of questions. My Brother has since gone back to purchase replacement parts and upgrades. This store is His new favorite place to go for everything Hobby related. Thanks to Alfredo and his team for operating an exceptional business. We look forward to many more purchases from you. Happy Holidays

I honestly cant find enough good words to describe the awesomeness of alfredo and his staff... I went to hi-tech hobbies not knowing much... And I left not only with an rc car, but a feeling of confidence that I bought something at a great deal, but some thing from a true Enthusiast... Oh.and a Chopper too lol. Extreamly knowledgable... he has a passion for the stuff, all of them do... and to top it off, great sense of humor and knows how to deal with kids, mostly cause they ARE big kids lol

One word, FANTASTIC! Will always do business with Alfredo the owner. I've been to multiple hobby shops and this is by far the best. Always excellent service great selection, and great prices. When it comes to repairs he usually has everything and if not he orders it!
