I love Art Ambush! I am 19 years old and have several piercings and one tattoo. Some background information: I received my first piercings in high school, at a local tattoo parlor. The people weren't nice, and the place was scary, although clean. When I moved to Waco in September of 2011, I discovered Art Ambush. I decided this was the place to get my first tattoo. I also decided later to get my tragus, and my forward triple helix pierced here as well. Art Ambush made all of these a terrific experience for me. The shop is clean, and relaxed. It doesn't feel scary, or like a doctors office. It's calm and there's places to sit while you wait. There is no creepy decor, or pictures of tattoos all over the walls. It looks like a tattoo parlor, but one that you would see on TV. It definitely has a feminine touch to it, with the artwork on the walls and the bright colors. However, even with all of its style, Art Ambush is clean. There is no visible signs of dirt anywhere, and everything they use for the procedures is sterile, and one time use only. The staff at Art Ambush is helpful, sweet, accommodating, knowledgeable and nice. When I arrived to get my tattoo, I didn't have an exact picture of what I wanted. The artist who was going to do my tattoo, named Kegan, was helpful and drew up a beautiful design, and modified it to my specifications. He was very patient with me, even after I asked him to redraw it for the 3rd time. He took the time to get it just right, then adjust the colors, and even mixed different shades to make sure it was just right. The piercer who did my piercings (Summer) is the sweetest girl ever! She is very kind, and gentle. She did my ear piercing, then stood there and sprayed it with cold water, to help the pain a bit. So sweet! She also helped me change my earrings into something better, free of charge. Also, I've asked her questions about swelling and healing on Facebook, and she is always prompt to answer and informative. She really knows what she is talking about, and what she is doing. All in all, I will never use any other tattoo parlor to get a piercing or tattoo. I will drive to Art Ambush, even when I no longer live in Waco. This is an amazing shop! And I'm not the only one to think so, since moving to Waco, me and 8 friends have had work done here, some of us more than once. This is the best tattoo parlor in Waco, and probably top 10 in Texas!

As soon as I walked in I was greeted, everyone was friendly, and the place was clean. My problem was with the work itself. I wanted a very simple tattoo, it just had some details that were overlooked. Specifically the outline (a lot of places that are crooked) and the shading (looks amateurish). Other artists would stop by and I should of had my reservations when some of his coworkers remained silent. It was probably the particular artist that did my work, I just wish that he was able to admit that he was not capable/comfortable enough to do it. It doesn't look like a tattoo I spent a couple hundred dollars on and now I get to go to someone else, spend more money, and get it fixed.
Seriously will never go anywhere else, despite the hour and a half drive. Zach and his wife were so nice and welcoming! He re-did an old tattoo for me and made it look 100% better as welll as giving me a new white ink tattoo on my wrist. Everyone in the shop was absolutely incredible. Zach's wife (I feel horrible I cant remember her name) even offered me a lollipop to help distract me and stayed and talked with me the entire proccess. They also offer free touch ups for a year. I WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE! I"ve been to 8 tattoo artist, they are the best BY FAR!
I couldn't be more happy with my new tattoo. I brought in several pieces and ideas and Zach made them into exactly what I had wanted - only better! My tattoo included a portrait and I was a little worried about finding a good artist for it, but he did an excellent job, very clear and detailed. He also was willing to work me into his schedule before I leave town. Everyone was friendly, and everything is very clean and sanitary.
State of the Art Tattoos is now located at 702 S. Vally Milld Dr. Suit B. It is in the same building as Hair Designs near Katie's Custard. I know a few people have had a hard time finding the place. I hope this helps you on your way to a new tattoo by Brandon, Shelby, Lacie, or Me (Brad). Hope to see you soon!
--Went to the Dream Connection Tattoos because I heard it had been in business the longest and is licensed. The place is spotless. Artist took his time even though another customer was waiting for him. I'm very happy how it looks !!~ So, yeah I would recommend Dream Connection--
Infamous ink was very friendly and clean. My tattoo seems to be fading, they have told me they have a one year guarantee so I plan on going back and having it filled in again as well as two more tattoos. I have already recommended the shop to four other friends. I will go back.
I wasn't too happy leaving another tattoo shoo because they were rude, but Big Daddy's was completely different. They greeted us when we walked in, Vic who did my tattoo was friendly, outgoing and helpful!!! I HIGHLY recommend these down to earth guys!
