When I first went to the DAV in Waco, it was amazing! I had just moved to the area and my previous DAV in New Orleans was a mess to deal with. Waco was a God send. Everyone was nice and helpful. The case manager seemed a little lazy, but I thought he was just really laid back. Seemed like he knew his stuff. Went back a few times and they were just so easy to deal with. I moved back to New Orleans, but kept calling Waco periodically to check the status of my claim since it was filed there. One fine day, I called to check on my claim and the lady who answered the phone was SO incredibly RUDE. I don't know what happened but she refused to transfer me to the case manager and said that they couldn't speak to me anymore and I had to call the DAV closest to me. I tried explaining that my claim was filed there and I just wanted an update. She barked and said "Do you want the number for the DAV in New Orleans or not?! You need to call them, not us, you're the one that moved". So I called DAV New Orleans and was told that there was no reason Waco couldn't give me an update. I had a case manager in New Orleans check my claim and it was all messed up. Apparently, Waco didn't even file the right claim. I had been waiting on money that I desperately needed for 3 months thinking it was the VA moving slow, but in all actuality, the DAV didn't even file it right. So now I have to start my claim completely over. Thanks for the waste of time, Waco!
I have not only been a volunteer at Friends for Life for over 20 years, I serve on the board and have seen the tireless work ethic, integrity and love for the work from the staff and administration. This is a first class organization and I am so proud to be part of this ministry.

I PRESENTLY HAVE A FIDUCIARY THROUGH THE VA JOE CHEYNE AND BILL WILLIAMS WHO WORK FOR A COMPANY FFL ( FRIENDS FOR LIFE ) WHO HAVE HAD CONTROL OF ALL MY VA AND SS INCOME FOR 7 YEARS . ALLOWING ME ONLY ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY FOR FOOD, GAS, AND A CELL PHONE. BUT THEN ONLY IF I SEND THEM RECEIPTS FOR EVERYTHING I PURCHASE, THAT IS THEIR DEMAND. I AM TALKING WITH THE DAV ( AS A LIFETIME MEMBER ) AND ONE-STOP VETERANS AND THE WACO, TX VETERANS AFFAIRS ( WHO IN THE FIRST PLACE LIED TO MAKE ME INCOMPETENT TO HANDLE MY OWN INCOME FALSLEY ) ABOUT MY MISSTREATMENT AS A VETERAN. THIS I AM SURE IS HAPPENING TO MANY VETERANS. THIS KIND OF TREATMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT OF THE U.S.A. MUST STOP OR BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY.
