The previous owners provided a movie experience for grownups. The first in the area to restrict kids. They had to come with parents/guardians not just and older brother or friend; they couldn't come at all if they were under 8 years old.
There weren't any protests over it because the theater didn't usually show any films that would appeal to kids. Often independent, arty films, and others for mature (R) audiences filled the bill.
Now kids run wild and noisy just like at every other theater in greater Cherry Hill area - and they show the same films as every other theater.
Most singular achievement of new owners? Increase in prices for tickets and concession foods! Also, place is not as clean - particularly the restrooms as it used to be.
Also the Ritz playbill is no longer available. The booklet provided reviews and descriptions of all movies showing and upcoming and lots of ads and coupons for local restaurants and clubs.
I say the Showcase has to surrender at least 2 stars!

Nice theater with great interior styling. No unsupervised kids running around ruining your evening, everything is clean and the concessions are good.

I love this theatre-they are one of the few who show independant films, they have the best popcorn I have ever had in my life and there are never ignorant teens or even adults who talk during the movies!! They also have a monthly "Filmbill" like a "Playbill" that tells of local events having to do with theatre and shows all the synopsis of upcoming films. Oh and on mondays at 1pm they have 'Silverscreen Classics" and for 2 bucks you get a small popcorn, small soda and an old classic movie usually from the 50's! (I am usually the only one who isnt a senior citizen but i dont mind!!)

Don't judge a book by its cover, basically it sucks since United Artist took over. They actually played real movies once when it was owned by individuals who actually appreciated art. Its a nice location upper scale, architecture but its staffing went down the drain along with its selection which I thought was its purpose hence it being officially called a "Movie Theater" while being run by this proclaimed division of such congregant "United Artists"... Basically its like a wrecked old model, she was once pretty when she actually cared about herself but then slowly became susceptible to her peers and surrounding environment, started doing coke lines off urinals in club bathrooms, aged 30 years in 5, face got all droopy, voice got all raspy from the chain smoking, now shes a wreck all because she gave into the false needs of the ignorant majority in the name of fortune & fame. good job United Artists!
