As an administrator of an estate, I placed items in August 2015 and September 2015 auction and still have not received ANY payment. They give me the "Check is in the Mail" statement. I finally had to go to Barrett Street Auction Center to get paid. I noticed items that went for less than they should have and was told it was not a good crowd. I wonder how many items were kept in the FAMILY Business of his son’s business the Antique Mall next door and he also has a furniture store. (Do you see the corruption here?) you will not get the best price since your items sell for nothing and are resold by his son for a generous profit.
I also asked about the wooden wine crates that were not on the invoice and was told they thought they were just containers yet took them over to his son’s business the Antique Mall and he also has a furniture store (Do you see anything that smells here?) and sold them. I told them I expect to get paid for the crates.
I had another U-Haul load from the estate that I refuse to take Barrett Street Auction Center sell and nothing else I ever decide to sell will touch any of the connected stores!
I took the load to AMARK AUCTION CO. 28287 Southampton Pkwy. Courtland Va. 23837 757-334-3442. I don’t know yet whether I will get a better deal. They have an auction every Friday and send the checks out 12 days after the auction as opposed to Barrett Street Auction that is supposed to send a check out 30 days after the auction. (I spent two months trying to get my check from Barrett Street Auction until I had to finally go there and have them write it out) I can tell you that the owner is very nice to the customers and the woman that performs the administration is also very nice. (Something that escapes Barrett Street Auction owners husband and wife who are extremely rude and treat their help like crap in front of the customers). The owner of AMARK AUCTION even had one of his guys sweep out the U-HAUL for me and told me he knew I had to return it clean. It is worth going down route 58 to AMARK AUCTION for a better experience.
