Dear prospective Art of Dance customer, My Daughter and I, absolutely love the Art of Dance Academy and its entire staff. My daughter has been in Miss Mary's class for a little over a year now and loves her to bits. Miss Mary is patient and provides excellent feedback and instruction to the chldren . The receptionists are equally as wonderful and communicate well with parents. Miss Monique Vermont is passionate about dance which is evident as it has spread like a contagion to her wonderful Dance instructors. The communication is optimal with verbal reminders, emails and monthly newsletters to keep you infrormed of everything you need to know. They also have a wonderful observation window so you can watch your child's progress. They even cheer and applaud the children when they are dismissed from class...what positive reinforcement!:) I was impressed with the venue and set up of the Nutcraker 2011 recital. My child was taken care of and put at ease before she went on stage (for the first time). I had tried another dance academy before and was extremely unsatisfied to say the least. I signed my daughter up for a summer session at Golden Slippers off Lynnahaven road. It was her first time in dance (she was 4) and she was a little nervous. The front desk staff never greeted you and even talked about other parents in a negative and loud manner. There was no oberservation window so I could not watch the level of instruction or my daughter's progress. And her dance intructor (who's name i can't even remember, that how terrible she was) would not talk to any of the parents, she would give the students little sheets of paper with notices to give to the parents... rude! Golden Slippers is slightly cheaper but you get what you pay for; a rude staff, no communication, no observation window and a front desk staff that will talk about you in front of other parents...the least professional environment I have ever been in. I left the Golden Slippers and found the Art of Dance Academy on the web. I read great reviews and called them up. Miss Monique was extremely personable, professional and made an appointment promptly. She took us on a tour of the Academy and won over my daughter right away. The point of this lengthy review...The Art of Dance Academy is AMAZING. I can't imagine my daughter going anywhere else. And Mee305, you might want to have someone edit your future reviews if you want anyone to take your reviews seriously...because I do not. Sincerely, A happy parent and supporter of the Art of Dance Academy

From Business: Dance Artistry Unlimited, offering quality dance education at reasonable cost, is a dance studio in Virginia Beach, Virginia offering classes in ballet, tap, Jazz…
Art of Dance Academy is fabulous! When we moved here a year ago from the west coast my daughter was 2. We didn't know anyone in the area and I wanted to enroll her in dance classes. After doing my research I found out that Art of Dance is the BEST in Hampton Roads. After a year of taking classes (we started in Tiny Tots, Pre-Discovery then DiscoveryI and her first performance this Spring as well as Princess camp in July) I can say that signing my daughter up with this studio is the best thing I did all year. Ms Monique and Ms Mary helped with the transition of the move by being so very nurturing and kind to my daughter while providing her with a structured and professional dance curriculum and instruction. My daughter thinks of them as family and wishes she could go to dance class every day of the week. I even catch her playing in her room with her dolls pretending she is Ms Mary and teaching them ballet. As a parent it warms my heart watching Ms Mary and Ms Monique be positive role models in my daugher's life. Teaching her not only ballet but good self conifidence. My daughter loves the smiles and hugs they welcome her with each class just as much as the structured curriculum. She loves making artowork for them and talks about them at home very often. Ms Mary is very special to my daughter and I love watching the nurturing and positive interaction they have during class. I love the dance studio because it is a structured and positive environment. As a past elementary school teacher the structure is very important to me. Ms Monique is always willing to help with any questions and is readily available to assist in anything a parent or student needs. Most recently my daughter attended the Princess Dance/Music/Art summer camp. It was even more wonderful than I anticipated. Each day she came home with several fun crafts to match the theme of the day, learned to play a different instrument and practiced a dance for the most adorable dance recital at the end of the week. She keeps asking if she can go back to Princess Camp and is bummed she has to wait till next summer for the next one. The SPring recital was not only adorable but very professional. I was very impressed with all the different performances, costumes, teachers, and the venue. We look forward to more performances to come. If I could I would rate 10 stars!!! Art of Dance Academy is not just a very professional dance studio but their teachers are helping my daughter come out of her shell and have positive self esteem, confidence and discipline. The positive character traits they are instilling in my daughter through the arts will not only last while we are stationed here but stay with her through all her journeys in life!
My daughter started at this academy when she was 2 years old, and is now 5 years old. She was an extremely shy little girl, and has BLOSSOMED beatifully!!! She has performed in 3 Nutcracker performances, and 2 spring recitals, AND has had 2 solos. She yells YAY!!! everytime we tell her she has dance that day (she now goes twice a week). She enjoys showing us what she learned that day, and dances everywhere she goes now, rather than walking. She absolutely LOVES Miss Monique and Miss Mary. And I'm wondering if maybe somebody in one of these other reviews is actually talking about the correct studio, because I have NEVER heard Miss Mary raise her voice, and she has been with my daughter's class since Miss Mary started with this studio. I did notice when she asks, NICELY and QUIETLY, for the girls to settle down, they immediately do as she asks....there is obvious MUTUAL respect there. I am AMAZED at the organization of the pictures, dress rehearsals, and recitals at this studio. Everything always goes so SMOOTHLY. The attention to detail to the costumes, hair, and makeup, does not go unnoticed at picture and recital time. I, myself, have been at OTHER dance studios during pictures and recitals times, and have witnessed the chaos, and have felt for the parents who have to spend HOURS waiting in line for solo pictures, just to be pulled out for the group picture, then go back in line and wait again for the solo pictures again. And the recitals........ let's just say I LOVE the way Miss Monique does her recitals, the children don't have to spend ALL day at the theater and be exhausted by the time for their performance. Miss Monique has been nothing but respectful and loving to my daughter and family. Any concerns I have had, she always addresses immediately, and she bends over backwards to work with my family. Yes, this studio is slightly more expensive then the other dance studios in the area, but honestly, after seeing the other schools' dance recitals, you get what you pay for. If you want a REAL, QUALITY, dance education, you should bring your child to Art of Dance Academy. If you are just looking for a &amp;amp;amp;quot;rec center&amp;amp;amp;quot;, extracurricular activity for your child, than this isn't the studio for your child.
We are relatively new to Inspiration Academy having only been there since November, however, it has been long enough to offer a true assessment of this wonderful studio. I am one that will, both compliment and criticize, a business accurately online to assist others in finding the place that is right for them. And I did take a star away for a reason. This place is definitely right for my family. My daughter is only six and had already experienced a not so enjoyable time at another studio in Virginia Beach, so I was quite reluctant in signing her up for dance anywhere, but her love for dance won that battle. I found Inspiration Academy online first and decided to go see what they offered. From the moment we walked in we were pleased. The friendly greeting and wonderful tour that followed, made my mind up to at least try the free trial period they offer. After the first trial class, I registered my daughter. She was, once again, very happy. Since that first week back in November, my daughter has found her place. She is treated with respect, has already learned so much, and has a number of new friends. The only complaint I have is that there is quite a bit of clutter in the back area of the studio. It appears to be props, decorations, and such, however in a facility that is kept so nice and clean, that area, needs some attention. It really warranted a half star removal but that wasn't an option. Other than that, we have experienced nothing else negative about this studio, and I would recommend it to everyone.
Just wanted to leave a quick note to say how very happy and proud I was of my little girl this year at the Nutcracker performance!! I was amazed at how much she had learned in one short semester under the direction of Ms. Mary. My daughter is naturally shy and I wasn't sure if I was going to have her continue with dance after the semester ended. But to my surprise each week she came home happy and eager to show us her &amp;quot;new&amp;quot; steps that she had learned from Ms. Mary. I am one of those mothers who like to see how my daughter is doing during her lesson and found Ms. Mary to be a no nonsense instructor. She is there to teach and teach she does! Very well might I add. She brooks no argument, and expects the children to come to class ready to actually learn ballet. I inquired about her background and found that she herself has extensive dance experience and was pleased to see she knew how to put that to excellant use in the studio. The Nutcracker performance this year was far and away one of the best the academy has performed and I am actually excited for the Spring performance that the children are preparing for now. My daughter loves Ms. Mary and is happy to go her lessons each week. Thank you Ms. Mary for all your hard work and determination in working with my daughter as well as the rest of the students who want to learn the art of dance!
Gosh, where to start? First of all, let it be known that it was Art of Dance that first sparked the flame for my daughter's dancing. We tried another studio before AOD and it was a disaster; my daughter didn't want to dance, but, because of her love for dance outside of lessons we decided to give Art of Dance a shot... I got more back than we have ever put in, a life of dance and a talent that was noticed. Because of Ms. Monique's unparalled ability to motivate children, she has made all-starts and little dancers for life. My daughter not only loved the classes, the recital was pure joy and the entire experience will never be forgotten. Our family is completely broken heart that we have to move away because I know our little girl would flourish if she continued dancing at Art of Dance! In addition, the classes are kept small so the kids can concentrate, the instructors all have wonderful dance backgrounds and the atmosphere is wonderful--we have met so many sweet parents and staff alike. Because of the opportunities and lessons that our little girl has learned at AOD, she is continuing to dance and will I won't be surprised if she continues through competitions, high school and college. Thank you to AOD for instilling this wonderful gift of dance in our daughter!!
I would highly recommend Art of Dance Academy if you are looking for your child to rise above &amp;quot;recreational&amp;quot; dance! My daughter began as a Tiny Totter (22 months old) and has since done two performances &amp;quot;Alice In Wonderland!&amp;quot; and the most recent: 10th Annual Nutcracker. She began performing at age 3 and had Ms Mary as her instructor most recently and I was highly impressed with her ability to retain choreography and enjoy herself on stage! She is part of the Academy's STARZ program and I find that if your child loves dance (as mine does) the instructors enhance that passion with that special individual attention that every child deserves. Their classes are very small! The atmosphere is extremely nurturing! The prices are great in that you &amp;quot;pay for what you get!&amp;quot;...the only added expense is that there are two professional qualities show per year, so I don't have to wait a year to see my dancing angel performing. She is almost 5 now and is being considered for a solo part for June's Recital, &amp;quot;Cirque Du Ballet!..Wow! I am just so proud of her!
Amazing experience at the Art of Dance Academy with Ms. Monique! My 4 year old granddaughter took a year of dance with another dance studio last year and did not learn what she did in &amp;amp;quot;4&amp;amp;quot; days of Princess Dance Camp with Ms. Monique and Ms. Mary. I was amazed at what she could do and the personalized attention the children receive at the dance academy. Matter-of-fact we gave my granddaughter the choice of where she wanted to go to dance and &amp;amp;quot;hands down she chose Ms. Monique and her Art of Dance Academy. For those that are looking to put their children in a dance environment; don't put price in front of quality! Some places are less expensive, you think, but if you put everything down that your child gets to do and learn; By far Art of Dance Academy is a much better place for your child! Ms. Monique welcomes the involvement of the family and does not hesitate to recognize anyone who helps in any way! Can't wait for the &amp;amp;quot;2&amp;amp;quot; recitals that we will get to see in the coming months. Ms. Monique, thanks for all you do for our children and your never ending dedication!
I highly recommend Art of Dance Studio for your child to learn REAL ballet and dance at the youngest age and to graduate up quickly! Our amazing experience with Tinytots AND with our older daughter was wonderful!!! We were treated like royalty; everyone is warm, friendly and extremely professional...Anyone experienced in the dance world knows that proper training NEEDS to be repetitive to target the muscles, etc necessary to improve; still at Art of Dance Academy, the variety comes from the different music used every week, and our TinyTotter graduated very quickly to the next level. I find that Ms Monique moves them up as soon as they are ready without waiting for them to reach a certain age. The special attention that she (the Director!) gives each child is so rare! Our older dancer will already, even have the opportunity to perform a solo in Nutcracker this year, because of the focus on technique, taught in a fun and loving environment. I have tried several other studios and am so thrilled to have finally found our permanent dancing home that cares so much for my children. Great job!!!!!!!!!!
Simply put, they are the best that Hampton Roads has to offer! My daughter danced for a number of years at different local studios, and though each had a few good things to offer (some had nothing good to offer), none of them had what we were looking for, until we found Inspiration Academy. They are truly a fantastic school, with superb instructors and teaching methods, excellent prices, and owners that really do care and love the students. My child has had so much fun at this studio, and learned leaps and bounds over what she learned else where. Sadly we are a military family and have had to leave the area, but I want to thank Inspiration Academy for everything they have done for us and given to my daughter...Our four years there will be ones we won't soon forget. I absolutely recommend them and if you don't try them out, you might miss out on something incredible. As for any negative comments you may see on the net, it may be personal disgruntlement, because I never saw anything negative or anyone treated unfairly in this school in the four years we were there, and we were there a lot!
