That’s Phatz Chick n Shack – not Fat Chicks as you might be thinking. Located in the Southeast corner of 43rd Avenue and State Road 60 in Vero Beach (behind Young’s Market) I recently stopped in for take-out. My kids wanted chicken wings and I wanted to try Phatz out. New to Vero Beach, they have an existing location in Fort Pierce, along with a food truck that can be seen along the Treasure Coast.Simple order – 20 Chicken Wings – along with an order of Garbage Fries. Given the opportunity to “mix and match” the wings, I took 10 Finger Lickin and 10 mild. After all, I have three small children that are very picky eaters. If it’s too hot – they won’t eat it. The Garbage Fries were an afterthought while waiting on the wings. Knowing my kids probably wouldn’t eat them – especially with the jalapeno peppers and other “stuff” on them, I figured “what the heck?”Friendly and polite service, I met several of the staff at Phatz Chick, along with the owner. Clean restaurant with parking in the front. With numerous menu options available, you can find something for everyone in your party. Waffles and chicken maybe? I will try that with the maple syrup next time.Chicken wings were a decent size, tasty and competitively priced. Ordering 20 and splitting the flavor options is less expensive that making separate orders of 10 chicken wings each. Garbage fries were pretty decent and had plenty of toppings to please.Next time, I will dine in at Phatz Chick as I have a feeling the experience will be a bit more enjoyable. William E. We eat here every chance we get. The food is good and the service from the bartender/server Charlie is great.
I've only had the opportunity to visit once, but Nick's Family Restaurant in downtown Vero Beach is a strong 4-star experience. Friendly staff and clean restrooms, service was quick and flawless. Restaurant and bar area were clean and well kept. Bowl of Chili and a chicken salad on rye. Lunch special was $8.95. A dollar cheaper if you want a cup, versus a bowl of soup. My suggestion is to try the bowl. A family style establishment, they recently started serving pizza. From what I hear, it's a great new addition to the menu at Nick's. Because of time constraints, I didn't have time to try it. Nick's Family Restaurant is on my short list of Vero Beach establishments to try once again. Located on busy State Road 60 (20th Street), you can find parking in the back and even a rear entrance to the establishment.William E. Lewis Jr.Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Excellent, healthy food. Just the place we've been looking for. It is not a white tablecloth place.
Not as good as expected. There were three of us, one ordered egg plant parm, with a side of Brussel sprouts. Egg plant was good, Brussel sprouts were cold. We sent them back, and they still didn't have them warmed up. Second order was a pasta salad and a number 14 sandwich. Got the salad at the counter, but they forgot the sandwich. It came out after a second request (and a wait). It was OK, Third order was delivered as promised. We have eaten there many times before, but this will most likely be the last time. With all the other excellent lunch options, it's not worth it
Amazing!! Great food and people. I definitely recommend breakfast here! Perfect location! Check it out!!
Always a pleasure. Fun and quirky. Great breakfast. Good coffee. Reasonable prices. Be prepared to wait for a table as it is always packed. But well worth it!
Old time fun! Door handles are from gas pumps! Service was attentive and the food was good. The place is definitely themed for devotees of cars and their fuel.
For the last four years I've placed the same order to where everyone knows what I want before I tell them. The skinny bartender would take money from the till and have her friends and hey son bring her drugs and they were not shy about it one bit. Well one day I guess she needed money to replace what she took from the register and I couldn't help her. I understand everyone has their own problems but because I said no my next service I placed the same order. And repeated it none the less. The older woman took my order and it say in the heat lamps for ten minutes and then they asset it out of the heat lamps for forty five minutes because she went out side to meet her dealer and do her drugs. This not only made me wait an hour for cold chicken wings but she intentionally gave me the wrong flavor, wrong sides, and no side sauces. All because I wouldn't give her money to get high. Always check your bill here.
I was with a group of 4 friends who requested we dine at the Dockside eatery. I ordered the fish and chips. After an unreasonable wait, our food came and much to my dissapointment the fish was very greasey and almost raw. The manager came to the table , and because I did not want to distract from my friends experience I told her about the fish but to leave it for now. I left most of it on the plate and spoke to our waiter at the end of our meal about adjusting the bill. I was absolutely FLABBERGASTED when she returned from talking to the manager and said I had eaten most of it and no adjustment would be made. Shut the front door!!!! You have got to be kidding me. With abomidiable service like this and pathetic food quality, its just a matter of time before the door does shut. It was a humiliating experience never to be repeated. I was sick all night and am currently rethinking my options for recourse. Shame on you.
