With several "urgent care" type facilities in the Vero Beach area, I chose MedExpress Urgent Care for a recent leg injury as it's new to the area and had a number of positive reviews.

Removing heavy objects from my SUV wasn't for me on this particular day. Object slipped and glanced the side of my left leg causing an injury. I'm not a doctor and required medical care. I called MedExpress and learned they were just closing but would open at 8 o'clock the next morning. No appointment required, although the female on the phone couldn't guarantee I would be "first in line" if I showed up at 8 a.m.

Arriving at 7:45 the next morning, I was first in line. Lucky me. Doors opened promptly at 8 o'clock.

The staff couldn't have been more helpful. After filling out the intake paperwork for Natasha, I was off to see nurse Lyn where I fully explained my concerns. He took my vitals and sent me off to see Dr. Pinzler.

Dr. Pinzler was very thorough in his examination of my left leg/knee and even examined my right leg/knee for comparison. Off for x-rays from every different angle. Three views in total - Robin took those.

A knee sprain it was - and Dr. Pinzler fully explained it along with presenting a graphic of the leg and knee. Not being a doctor, I did pay attention and took lots of notes.

That was a joke - I didn't take notes and barely paid attention to what the doctor had to say. I was just glad that my leg was sprained rather than something worse. I knew it wasn't broken when I injured it but wasn't sure if something was torn or pulled.

An MRI was suggested and I was offered an ACE bandage or knee immobilizer for my leg. I chose the knee immobilizer and Dr. Pinzler fully explained the fee - $50.00 - for the really cool 20 inch designer leg brace. I Googled the brace later on and found very little mark-up for this device.

Speaking of treatment - my entire visit was $219.00, which included three x-rays and the knee brace. Not a bad deal - a deal that would have been $50.00 less had I decided on the ACE bandage rather than the brace. My choice though with immobilization of the knee rather than the flexibility of a bandage.

Fast, friendly and polite were the staff at MedExpress Urgent Care in Vero Beach. Natasha, Lyn, Robin and Dr. Pinzler earn 5 stars! I won't hesitate to use them again.
