I purchased a coupon on Living Social for a 1 hr anti-aging facial here at 50% off. My firend and I went on Friday afternoon. The salon has good visability from the street, but a very limited parking facility. We walked in, and it was VERY loud due to construction and the number of stylists, but well appointed and clean. I was rushed into the facial room without any consultation or in-take form (questions like: Are you allergic to anything, what type of skin problems do you have, are you taking any medications), worried me. I was told to partially dis-robe while the lady was standing in the room with me? She did give me a wrap, but still. The facial consisted of: removing my makeup, application of a scrub (at some points, painfully applied), application of a mask (she put it on and walked out and left me for 20 minutes!), and application of a moisturizer with a facial, neck and chest massage. Her massage technique was pretty good, but again, became pretty rigorous at times. I asked her durinf the facial, what type of product she was using, she responded "Loreal: Professional", but when I was leaving, she did tell me that she mixes her own moisturizers. When it appeared that she was done with my facial, I asked her if she wasn't going to apply anything to my eye area? She agreed to put a little moisturizer on for me. No steaming, no extractions, really a mini-facial, at best.We also had pedicures, and those were the WORST we had ever had done. This is an Armenian, full-servie salon specializing in wedding parties, From what I could tell, the stylists were turning out nice do's.
Good haircut, poor customer service! Obviously, these gentlemen's know how to cut hair no doubt about it; however, I am not sure if they provide the greatest customer service. Sitting in there for more than 75 minutes I watched people went ahead of me. if all of them had appointments before and if this shop does not accept walk-ins, then I would expect a sign saying so; or at least one of the barbers should have told me not to stay. After 1 hour and 15 minutes of waiting and watching them ignoring me, I said goodbye and went to another barber shop -Jina's hair cut (1259 Glendale Ave) - and got a nice hair cut in 20 minutes. I think what bothered me today most was the fact that the barbers in Modern Barber shop ignored my presence in there. They simply could have told me not to wait or just come another day or something like that. Sorry no offense to anyone, but I wouldn't waste my time in modern barber shop next time!
Trikee Tack is staffed with very friendly and super knowledgeable people. I shop here for supplies for my tiny flock of chickens, and the price for feed is much better than other stores I've visited (the quality of the product is better as well). If you have any questions about what products might be best, there is always someone on sight who can answer you. And they always have the best interest of the animals in mind. For instance, they do not sell baby chicks until after Easter so that they know they won't be given as temporary, cutesy gifts, but will go to homes where people are ready and prepared to take care of them properly. They also will only sell chicks in sets of 3, as they are meant to be flock animals. I love the integrity of these policies, and I will happily continue to support this shop because of them.
Good groupon deal! I purchased a groupon for $15 for 1 gel manicure (valued at $30). It was my first time in the salon. It wasn't super fancy or anything, but the girl who did my n ails (Janette) was really nice and pretty careful and detailed. They had a large selection (20-30) colors to choose from for my gel manicure. Doing gel is generally more expensive, but worht it because it's not supposed to chip, so it should last at least 2 weeks. Plus, it looks super shiny! There's a parking lot down the street and some street parking. The location is in the cute Kenneth village. My review is only for the manicure and not for other salon services.
My eyebrows are so clean! I went here because my chiropractor recommended me to this place. Zina, the esthetician waxed my eyebrows and my lips for a discounted rate. She did an amazing job and uses a green-colored wax for sensitive skin. I was wary abotu waxing as I used to do it and it hurt a lot and would have bad reactions. I switched to threading, but decided to give waxing another try. Zina did a fabulous job and even tweezed my eyebrows some too, since some of my hairs were too little. I would definitely go back!
This is my emergency last minute place because they can usually fit you in. The salon is long and narrow. The decor is just kind of depressing. Not really a pamper yourself kind of place. I've had gel nails done here while I'm sitting in the spa foot bath. One time my nail guy in order to rush me out had the electric blue light on my lap while I was sitting in my bath. I should have said something but I didn't. Guess what that electric blue light actually almost slid off my lap and into the water. OMG.
This is my most favorite nails salon in town. They did a very good acrylic job, my acrylic nails stayed very long and strong. I was impressed about their huge selection of colors, and furthermore, each of their colors is pretty. I tried many different colors and still didn't feel disappointed at any time. The salon was so clean and well organized with a walkway in the middle, I walked all the way through without hitting any chair or table. 5 stars for the services and environment.
The Look helps me look fabulous fast without emptying out my wallet. I have gone to The Look since it opened, have had various stylists cut my hair, and have always left pleased as punch. I appreciate the efficiency of the salon -- walk-ins with generally little to no wait -- but I also like the friendliness of the place. The stylists listen to me, ask questions, make suggestions, and then always deliver just what I want. Who says looking good has to cost a lot?
I've been coming here to do manicure and pedicure for a long time. I tried other places for a few times but this salon is still the best one for me especially their pedicure service. My feet are always dirty than my hands so every time I come to a nails salon, I just want to walk out with clean feet, and I always have what I expected. They took time to clean my feet and my toe nails very carefully. My money for the services and for the tips is so worth.
From the front of the business, Koko's looks like just a barbershop. I was pleasantly surprised to see two female stylist working, one with a customer mid-dye job. The instant welcome as soon as I walked in was great. Herminia "Mini" paused what she was doing to listen to what I wanted to get - a major haircut an a major color job. Mini pulled out her appointment book and was even considering staying late to do my hair. Instead, I made
