This is a reference restaurant for the area. In front of the ocean, hard to find. Fried calamari, perfect. Their soup too heavy, my stomach had to wrestle the soup. They need to hire more crew to clean after the tables, the place is very very busy, so the budget for it should be there. Their prices are a bit high, but well, you eat by the ocean. Otherwise, go to a local Mac Donald's and look at the parking lot while you eat your processed animal.

We went on the recommendation of a friend, who really enjoyed the fish & chips. Instead we got the fried scallops & chips (the scallops were fine, the fries mediocre), 2 Buoys (Andria's Clam Chowder in large sourdough bowl), and char-broiled halibut that came with a green salad, rice and bread.
The clam chowder was the worst we've ever had. This is NOT New England clam chowder, and has some bizarre southwestern seasoning. It also contains carrots, which don't belong in clam chowder.
The char-broiled halibut was a disaster. It was very dry, and without warning came coated with what appeared to be taco sauce (!) and something that looked like American Cheese but didn't have the flavor--or any noticeable flavor. The green salad was mediocre, and the rice was bland with poor texture.
We left at least 3/4 of our food uneaten. By the way, the restrooms are not in the restaurant -- they're across the parking lot, with open doors.
If all you want is something like fish and chips, the place is probably fine. Anything else, and you may wind up with a horrible meal.

The fried fish and chips are what I go for except all the food is really good. Just a basic shrimp cocktail will do you right. The fried aspect is not the best for you but heck you only live once right! If you do go the fish and chips route it will taste wonderful, just not the best for you.

This is what we found after a comprehensive sampling of F&C joints from Oceanside to San Fran. The clam chowder is deserveadly famous but leaves less room for fish .Not good as portions are HUGE.Don't miss the attached fish market.Fresh-off-the-dock fish shark shrimp etc.to take home &grill for act2.(p.s.don't forget the garlic juice spray-good stuff)
