There is a reason why this place is called Happy Dogs, and that reason is Sylvia, the matriarch of the Korean American family that owns and operates this small but bustling hot dog stand across from the Van Nuys Civic Center. She always has a huge, beautiful, sparkling smile on her face, and she knows her regulars by name. I always love the manner in which she calls out my name like she is singing a song. If she hasn't seen me in a while, she will greet me enthusiastically, like an old friend, and asks about my cats. The service is great, it's pretty fast, too, even when it's busy; the family runs it like a well-oiled machine. The breakfast burrito is especially fantastic, stuffed full of anything you want, and all for a great price. The veggie burrito is also a favorite of mine; I don't think I've ever had anything on the menu that I didn't like and would try again, it's that good. Parking is limited to two spots in the rear, but you can park for free on the side streets nearby, for two hours. There's some outdoor seating and a small indoor seating area as well, but this is primarily a take out joint. By all means, check it out the next time you find yourself going to court. And tell Sylvia that Valerie Says hello!

To all my friends out there: I would just like to take a moment to recommend Queen's Char Burgers because the food is absolutely fresh and cooked to perfection and the restaurant is immaculate. In addition to fresh food and cleanliness, Queen's Char gives large portions. After a burger and fries at Queens Char I cannot think of eating again that day. So the burger is great, and the fries and the salads and the pancakes. I guess you could say that I love Queen's Char.
if you're ever on Oxnard between Kester & Van Nuys Blvd, don't miss this place! If you blink, you might! It's on the south side of the street & you can pick it out from the people sitting on stools around the little building with big taste. Doesn't look like a lot of parking, but there's plenty in the back. The burgers are AWESOME! Not sure if they're open on the weekend, but during the week you can get breakfast, lunch or dinner. This is one of the Valley's hidden secrets.
Great burger and fries. A bit better than the best chains (In-N-Out, Fatburger, Habbit), which is saying something!
Queens Burgers, one of several eat joints to give it a go at this spot since Taco Bell bailed a few years ago.$7.50 = Double Cheeseburger/w Fires and a Drink....This area really needed a good Char-Drippin Burger Joint. Now it has one.. The Menu is shared with a variety of Mexican favorites.Drive through is cool, on the passenger side. Be patient, all orders are cooked fresh when ordered.
