WARNING !!!! anyone that rates this campground 5 stars either works there or is related to the owners, they do have sign for everyone to see that reads,"this aint burger king, you dont get it the way you want it" that explains everything about this place, over 2000 campers the weekend we stayed, porta potties were overflowing, one toilet functional in bath house all weekend, we cleaned campsite so well you could lay down and not get dirty, but refused to refund $20 deposit, website listed live band for sat nite, had DJ instead, i could go on, but let me rant about float rentals, ran out of tubes by noon,we always rent canoe so had no problem, it was the wait to get on transport, took over 2 hours to get on river after checking in, so we get to take out point at sunset, we like to make several stops, limited this time,so i say go to jacks fork, upper current river or eleven point, van buren can not handle the zombie hoard that invades it on weekends, also lots of boats that have no respect for floater, every business in town has lost touch with how to treat customers,i've been going on floats for 30 years and i've seen the downward spiral ever since that crook built the landing,
This is one of the best campgrounds I've ever stayed at! We asked for the best site with a view, and oh my goodness did they deliver! Our tent sat, literally, feet from the breathe taking Current river! The bathrooms were probably the cleanest campsite bathrooms EVER. The owners were delightful to have coffee with in the morning, and anything you needed was right on hand! This place was well worth the 4.5 hour drive for us!
Memorial weekend 2014 was a BLAST! I camped with a large group of friends over the weekend. We had 13 people in our camp site! We had plenty of space and the benefit of water and electric in close proximity to our site. The restrooms and showers were very clean and well maintained. The general store had most any item one could need, but most importantly, COFFEE! The staff was helpful with any of our needs and didn't seem to mind our lack of rowdiness. We plan on returning next year with more people. Site 95 i think is. That's ours!
We stayed here with 2 other couples for our first time July 4th weekend (a fully booked time for all of the campgrounds) !! The campground was very clean and had everything you could need at the store! As you can imagine, yes sometimes young people may get carried away and act crazy, but there was staff driving around to make sure that everything was as it should be! Some of the guys staying near us got a little wild, and we reported it to the staff who immediately took care of the situation, even making them leave the campground! Shane (one of the staff) even gave us his personal cell # in case we had any issues with noise, we could text him anytime! That is going above and beyond and you don't get that kind of service at other campgrounds! Remember, the staff cannot control how people behave, they can only correct the situation which they did immediately! We will definitely be returning and letting everyone we know what a great place this is and how well the staff handled everything! Especially Shane!! Thanks again for making our stay enjoyable!! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE EVER. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY. AWEFUL PLACE, AWEFUL PEOPLE, RUDE OWNERS, INCOMPETENT STAFF, UNSAFE ENVIORNMENT NEVER EVER TAKE CHILDREN HERE!! If I could give a negative rating on this campground I would. We stayed at this campground over July 4th weekend 2014. Our experience is best described at absurdly horrific. To keep it short let me be brief. The campsite next to us outside and inside their tents removed their clothing and "committed adult oriented acts" with each other. Drunkeness and lewdness all over. Loud obsenities shouted from other sites all night long. There were people "having relations" or "committing adult acts" and vommitting in the bathroom/shower area. We were lied to about the condition of our campsite as it was underwater when they confirmed reservations. Our credit card number was stolen via the use of smartphone text. No security during the property as promised. No cell service to call authorities. Portable toilets pushed over by drunk patrons. Rude unapologetic owners that cared more about money than customer service. This was the worst experience we ever had camping and we won't be back to the state of Missouri. Also as we were leaving a lady in an RV said they had a similar experience. Do not take your RV or go tent camping at this place. It is unsafe, unclean, and poorly managed. This is a hedonistic establishment and NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY!!
We had a group of 4 with reserved spots --when it rained all the spots flooded and our RV was sitting in 5" of water--it had no drainage and the water remained and could not drain out--they were extremely rude to guest ..don't make the mistake of staying here--plenty of other places to stay with clean camp spots..also has low overhanging limbs that drag on top and sides of rv's..
Do not give this campground your money, because they will take it and make you feel like you are not welcome there. The staff is mean and watches everything you do. My family stayed here for 2 nights and we were talked to like we were children. My brother's arm is paralyzed and they treated him horribly. I am never going back and I highly recommend that campers beware of this place.
