I'm heavily tattooed and after doing some research, I found out about the brass quill gallery. I asked around, saw some healed work and every. Single. Person. I talked to said they were the best shop in town. I whole heartedly agree after visiting and getting worked on by Ben. It's the only shop I would get work from in between Atlanta, Jacksonville, Tallahassee or Gainesville. They're on par. Each artist who's portfolio I saw was great. Even their apprentices are better than established tattooers in the area. Long story short, the brass quill is the ONLY shop I would go to in that area. I would personally trust any of their artists to leave a permanent mark on me, even the apprentices. It's an all around cool shop. Very clean, non sketchy atmosphere (which is amazing considering other shops in the area) and talent. Yeah, that's it.
I'll start off by saying that I'm a heavily tattooed man and I was researching shops in the are a couple months back. This place stood out to me in that it seemed very hit or miss. There are artists that work there that do some pretty amazing stuff, Tito and Chris V. There are others who I won't name that seem... subpar. I would definitely get tattooed there, but I would only set the appointment with an artist of MY choosing. Don't let the floor manager hand you off to whoever is open because it seems like a gamble and you shouldn't gamble with permanence. In closing, I think it a shop with some talent, some coat tail riders. Stick with the talented ones and you'll do fine. I recommend Chris V. I had the pleasure to be tattooed by this heavy handwriting lol and I love my memento.
Anyone who has ever gotten a tattoo before has probably under some circumstance had a bad experience. Not at The Brass Quill. From the crazy, fun art on the walls, to the zany personalities, The Brass Quill offers won of the most pleasant tattoo experience around. Bob Layne and his crew are experienced, dedicated artists, and should by no means be underestimated. If you're thinking about getting a tattoo, piercing, or just want to show your art, The Brass Quill is sure to make you feel right at home.
They are friendly, inviting, clean, and personable. Every piece that I have had done by Ben get compliments every day. I recently just added a new peircing to my collection and it was done by Will who did an excellent job. The talent of Jake and Bob are also excellent! This is the most amazing shop that I have steped foot into. They have soo much talent and originality which I value. They also support other local artist and musicians. You never know who you will run into at this place.
That the guys and girls of this shop are top notch artists and people whom I would recommend to anyone wanting a piercing or tattoo. Will is a great piercer and Bob, Jake, and Ben are some of the best if not the best artists in town. If you go anywhere else you will be disappointed with your experience. Did I mention the shop is very steam punk designed and they are a totally custom shop, no flash no duplicates for you to see on the street later. What more could you ask for?
The Brass Quill is both elegant and down to earth. The guys and gals who operate this shop are honest and hard working people who let their personalities dictate who they are. The artists are all talented individuals who do not just tattoo you, they become your friends. This is not just a tattoo parlor, but a center of creativity, both from the resident artists and from the community. There are numerous ways to get involved with the Brass Quill, you are more than a client.
The Brass Quill Gallery is by FAR the most amazing, professional, fun, artistic Tattoo Shop in GA!! I have gotten 4 tattoos done by Bob (Owner), and he is just an astronomical tattooist! Very clean, crisp lines, and awesome detailing done all with very reasonable prices! I live in Athens and I will drive the 4 1/2 Hrs to get more tatts done by them! If you want great looking work done and an experience to remember, then this is the place to GO!
The Brass Quill is beyond the best place to get a tattoo. You have the best guys there, with great personalities that make you feel comfortable. Talent and entertainment. Awesome art work on the walls that are for sale. Each artist has there own room so its completely private. The location is amazing, a renovated old house is a nice creepy cool touch. Love my tattoo from Jake :) Already planning my next pieces with him and Ben.
I'll start by saying that I'm a heavily tattooed collector and I was researching shops in the area. It's a very small shop, but it seemed clean and orderly. I spoke with a Ken and he seemed fairly knowledgeable. I don't think I would get tattooed there because their artwork seemed very "airbrush, new school" styled but if that's what you're looking for, I would check them out. I haven't seen any healed work from them though.
I got my first piercing here, nearly ten years ago. I added some work in with the artist known as PYRO. He is amazing. I've had four people work on color blast, and he is the only one who came close to blending and matching the colors like the original artist. I don't know what your problem is, but ink addiction has been a respected shop for years and isn't going anywhere. Everything is CLEAN here and NEW.
