Learn from our experience and never order a project from Lowe’s. My wife and I bought a $40k kitchen project from Lowe’s Union in June 2017. We paid the amount in full, upfront. From start to finish, it took over 8 months to finish a kitchen (final permits granted only this March 2018), instead of 8-12 weeks, as expected.
At the time, we were expecting our baby to arrive in December 2017 and a timely well- managed project was a key for us. The Kitchen consultant assured us this is the great thing about choosing Lowe’s as we will have all under one umbrella and have her as a main point of contact during the project.
In reality, not a SINGLE activity in this project went well or managed by Lowe’s team. We ended up managing every simple activity in this project (otherwise it won’t get done or done inappropriately) and chasing multiple parties: the kitchen consultant (who washed her hands from us shortly after the contract started), Lowe’s Union store manager, their contractor, the project coordination team and the delivery agent XPO. Each of them deferring responsibilities to someone else.
So many things happened (wrong materials supplied, multiple deliveries, damaged appliances, gas leak, out-of-stock items for which we paid upfront, 10-weeks materials credit processing, lack of project and supply management, lack of communication, 3 failed electricity inspections, and more) but there is not enough paper. Bottom line, going through it all cost us a lot of frustration and time which we will never get back.
