I stayed at the Wingate in Tuscaloosa on April 6 and 7. While taking a shower with the bathroom door open, someone came into my room and left a stack of towels and washcloths on the cabinet in the room. They had to know that I was in the shower because I yelled at my roommate thinking it was him. We left the room at 9:45 am to go to our conference and did not come back until 10 pm. Our room had not been cleaned. We had towels but no soap and shampoo. The girl gave me some supplies and told me she would make a report and leave it for the girl on duty the next morning. The manager was off until Monday morning. When I went to the front desk the next morning, the girl on duty knew nothing about the incident.
She told me that she would leave a note for the manager and that he would call me Monday morning. I have not heard from him. He refuses to call me or return my calls. I have written him a letter explaining the incident and have heard nothing. He must think that I am trying to get a free night. I do not want a free night. That place has gone downhill since I last stayed there. The carpet in my room was dirty. That hotel used to be one of the cleanest in Tuscaloosa. Since Lamar Miller has taken over, things have changed. He apparently does not like to handle problems, apparently does not have the guts to say anything to his employees who do not do their jobs. I only want him to know about the incident so that it will not happen to another guest. I feel that I at least deserve to have a conversation with him about the incident.
