Overall
Long, long waits in the lobby....

Long, long waits in the lobby. Even longer waits once you finally get in a room. Then the doctor seemed impatient for spending more than a few minutes with me so he could shuffle everyone else through the building. Obviously a revenue driven business only, as they are all partners. It's similar to speed dating except it costs you a lot more money and frustration. Once I was finally diagnosed they said it would be 8 weeks for the first appointment JUST to see the Dr for a referral to get an injection. So I had to see another one of their doctors just so he could basically say "yep, this is what you need." Only to find out through a friend that they have an Owasso office. When I called they said they had an appointment the next day in Owasso for the referral visit. How hard would that have been for the person to figure that out herself, it is her job? It took 7 office visits with copays for one simple injection. I'm not a Dr but I did walk in and tell them exactly what I believed it to be based on all the symptoms and build up over time. Yet it took them 7 appointments to treat me. Again, more money in their pocket. By the way my primary care physician diagnosed it with one simple visit before he referred me to TB&J. My total copays equaled very close to the cost of the procedure itself. I highly suggest looking elsewhere and avoiding the herding of cattle and runaround you are due to receive here.

To begin with, I was surprised...

To begin with, I was surprised that when attempting to schedule an appointment that I could not get into the office for over 5 weeks. Granted, I was a first time visitor, but I thought that delay was excessive. Once the date finally arrived, I waited over 75 minutes to finally see the doctor...not including the time to process new patient paperwork, insurance information etc. (that part actually went pretty quickly...get the money straight first right?) While waiting in the observation room one nurse did come in to explain that there was a delay with the doctor since they were backed up with patients that had injured themselves over the weekend (it was a Monday). My first thought though was why did I have to wait so long for an appointment if I could have just walked in? Granted, I have no knowledge about the severity of the other persons' injuries, but none the less, I value my time at least as much as the doctor values his. If you schedule my time, please respect that as I would yours. I was also told I'd receive an x-ray before the doctor could make an assessment. After an hour passed with the doctor still not arriving, I left the room to find a nurse to inquire what the delay was. Again, just apologies and a promise that "you're next". Another 15 or 20 minutes later the doctor came in, observed my elbow for about 3 minutes. Granted, he did a good job answering my questions and asking his own, but without any x-ray, scan or anything other than the cursory check, gave me a cortisone shot. Total doc time, less than 8 or 9 minutes. No scans, no follow up appointment, etc. Doctor did advise therapy, so the follow up nurse got my information (I just provided that when I first arrived), then told me, "If the therapist doesn't call you in a week or so, call us back." I knew then, this was b.s. I asked why she would assume the therapist wouldn't call me back. I was told the reservations "are made through the computer and there's sometimes a problem." Right. Well today, fully SIXTY DAYS after my original appointment, the therapist's office calls me. They were very polite, but since I've been doing my own therapy (thanks internet) I declined. I did though ask how the therapist received my information and instruction to call me....it was by fax, yesterday.

My conclusion? Tulsa Bone and Joint is a beautiful facility geared to driving revenues with little actual customer service. They may be great with other patients, but I have only my own experience to go by. My suggestion to any reader...find another doctor's office.

Saw one doctor for maybe 5 min...

Saw one doctor for maybe 5 minutes....he said my problem was my weight and arthritis. Saw another doctor there and she agreed. I insisted on an MRI...and I was RIGHT--something was wrong with my knee--a torn miniscus. A note to doctors: we patients do know our bodies, so please listen to us. Maybe your ratings will go up after I go see a third doctor there this summer. Why go back there, you ask? My insurance will only allow me to see doctors within that network.
