We took ourf 2005 Dodge RAM in for 17 point inspection before our trip and they said our brakes could be replaced when we got back. Half way thru our trip two rotors and all brake pads had to be replaced costing $900.00. We have been AAMCO loyal customers in PHX but this branch is not trustworthy. Called the Manager and said we got the inspection free.

Service was very bad. Went in for diagnostic, was supposed to be done that morning so I could pick up that day. They never called. I called, they said would call back in 20. Never called. I called again at closing and still could not speak to mechanic or owner. Said they would call first thing the next morning, forcing me to leave my truck overnight. They did not call until finally the next afternoon. Paid $220 for diagnostics sheet that was not really readable, and to discover was bad engine mount. Their quote higher than dealer for repair. Forced me to pay for part that was returnable that they claimed was not returnable, but parts supplier said otherwise when I contacted them. They did not tell me up front that the part would not be returnable. Said would call when part arrived, did not. Owner would not even talk to me - only ever dealt with the receptionist. and more... sigh. Awful place and worst service ever.
Oldest and largest transmission chain, family owned and operated in Tucson. We have two locations in Tucson and our warranties are honored nationwide.
I went to another shop because the trans was not shifting right. They said it would need a rebuild and would cost between $2800 and $3300. I then took it to Herman for another opinion. He said to change the filter and fluid. It was easy to do so I did it myself. That cured the problem. Total cost about $25.Thats a big difference. Needless to say I am glad I went to Hermans.
In a world where good service and fair pricing are rare, this place is a gem. I took my TJ over to have a leak in the transmission/ transfer case area diagnosed and was treated like I had been a customer for years. Darryl ,the manager, who very was friendly and courteous took the time to go over all my options and pricing. After I explained that was looking to install a lift kit in the very near future, he referred me to speak to David the owner, who is also a TJ owner, to explain what recommendations would be most cost effective. Davids knowledge about Jeeps in general was remarkable and his suggestions were amazing. Now I have the all the leaks fixed AND have my jeep ready for the lift kit, all at a very reasonable price. Not to mention David diagnosed a fuel system problem I was having at the same time and I'm not sure he even charged for that. I cannot say enough about what a great find this shop was. The people were awesome, the service was top notch and the pricing was as fair as I could have imagined. Why would you go anywhere else?
On Dec 27, 2016 my wife and I were traveling from Missouri to Mexico when I lost the transfer case on my 1996 Chev K1500 about 20 mi east of Tucson. We found Joe and Shelly at AMS and the minute I arrived they put it on a lift (had to take another car down). They did everything they possibly could to find a used one to get me back on the road but they are rare for manual transmissions. I ended up leaving the truck with them while they totally rebuilt the transfer case. Shelly took us to the airport (we love Shelly, an "automotive gal" all the way!) I have now driven it many miles and am totally satisfied with the service, price, and results. I am blessed to have found a shop that did NOT take advantage of a stranded traveler. Not many of these left around!
We've been talking our little Jeep Cherokee to Lloyd's since we got it. The take are of all our repairs, upgrades and drastic mods. We are always impressed with their knowledge, skill, and very fair quotes to get things right on the Jeep. If you call and get voicemail, it's cuz the guys are working hard. Keep trying. It's worth the wait to get through to them.
