FEMALE PATIENTS OF DUNG T. NGUYEN, D.O., 7340 E SPEEDWAY BLVD, TUCSON, AZ 85710 SHOULD NOT BE EXAMINED WITHOUT A FEMALE CHAPERONE IN THE ROOM. I was a patient of his for years without a problem. I highly recommended him and then there was an incident that occurred during a visit for a sinus infection, when he asked me to lift up my shirt and I thought he was going to listen to my lungs. He then proceeded to unhook my bra and conduct a “breast exam.” I was shocked and then angry and never returned after that. My mother was also a patient of his and she said he acted “weird” at her last exam. Upon further questioning, he had done the same thing to her. This physician leaves the impression of a devout and caring Catholic physician, but something is not right with him. I feel this is the quickest way to warn other patients who may be looking for a primary care physician, as filing a complaint with Arizona Medical Board is a long and arduous process and patients seldom check that website. If you are currently under his care, insist on having a female chaperone present during examinations from now on. If you are female and looking for a doctor, look elsewhere. If you are trusting this physician to care for an elderly female relative and cannot be in the room during every exam, my advice would be seek care elsewhere.

Overall
reasonably positive experience with family doctor

he is doctor of osteopathy and not md but is board certified in internal medicine. he seems reasonably competent to me. i have seen him about four times in the last eight months. he is friendly, willing to listen to patients, not arrogant and cooperative. he gave me his cell phone number in very first visit though i never had need to use it. he does tend to over refer people to specialists and over medicate but all in all, i think you could do much worse. for people with insurance and not paying cash in full upfront, it would be hard to do much better. his front receptionist is unfriendly. he has no nurse but a physician assistant who is friendly but not skilled at drawing blood from veins. he has long hours and also saturday hours. on certain days of week, his physician assistant substitutes for him so if you make appointment make sure you verify whether it is with doctor or assistant
