Dr. Julia Szilagyi Levai, MD

Avoid Dr. Julia Levai. She is rude, unprofessional, and incompetent. I went to her for symptoms of hypothyroid. She doesn't seem to know anything about thyroid disease. Shocking considering she is an endocrinologist. She insisted on running tests for diabetes (which I knew I didn't have), but ignored what I knew I did have. She even told me that cold hands and feet are NOT a symptom of thyroid disease. When I pointed to a chart on her wall that said it was, she responded: "Ignore that. That isn't right." I asked her why she had it on her wall then? She ignored me. She kept me waiting over an hour, lied about accepting my insurance to get me there, then refused so I had to pay out of pocket. Julia Levai dismissed my symptoms as depression, even though I had serious issues like tremors, hair loss, digestive issues, etc. which had to be caused by something more than depression. When I told her I think the depression is a symptom of a larger problem, and not the other way around, she again, ignored me. She ran tests for what she wanted, not what was needed or I requested. Her office is very unsanitary, as is she and her staff in their hygiene practices. After coming back for blood work, and nearly dying because her staff didn't know how to draw blood properly, she still made me pay and I received no diagnosis. She insisted it wasn't thyroid disease, but didn't run the right tests to know for sure (Free T3, Free T4, thyroid antibodies). It turns out, I DO have thyroid disease and she was wrong. Incompetent, unprofessional, horrible bedside manner, charged over $200 for a 13 minute appointment, and didn't help me anyway. I know of several patients with similar experience as mine, and I warned many more to stay away. Oh, and she spent all but 2 minutes of my 13 minute appointment talking about herself and her issues. NOT what I pay a doctor to do!
