Disappointed. Food was alright yet all I could taste is salt. There are in fact other seasoning. When I mentioned it to my server he was rude and stopped paying attention to my table all together. We only saw him when he dropped off the check. Will not be returning unless I feel like contracting something from the undercooked steak.

My wife and I selected Capital Grill for a nice dinner. The bar was nice, expensive but I expect that from a highend place. The customers on the other hand are sloppy and over impressed with themselves. Men in tight shorts, slobs in dirty tee shirts, talking on cell phones so everyone could hear how important they were. No table manners at all. Staff made sure to tell us they were a famous steak house. We ordered their signature steaks of course Mid rare. First ones delivered to us were over well done. After another try and another hour wait they were still over done but we had so much time into this place by now we tried to eat what they brought us. Little over cooked, no taste and tough. For $100 a plate I expect more. I do not recomment this place. I've had better meals at McDonalds for under $5.00. Good luck seems to be the word of the day at the Grill. Sorry but my taste run a bit higher. No way will I ever return.

The food here is always wonderful, fresh and well priced. The manager is very friendly and makes you feel as if you enetered their kitchen. The service was fantastic - so caring and attentive. The citrus glazed salmon was unbelievable! My husband had the Kona encrusted strip steak which melts in your mouth. The strip steak was charred to perfection and there was not a drop left on the plate! The wine was affordable and wonderful. The chocolate dessert was scrumptious. The wait staff was professional, courteous and made our evening so special. This place is certainly on my short list of great places to come back to. Wish I could eat here every night.

The Capital Grille has been a mainstay in the Metro Detroit community for over 10 years, and ever since I moved here from Chicago (restaurant Capital of the midwest!), it has been my favorite spot for after-work drinks in the lounge as well as special occassion and business dining. It is a place where I walk in the door and people remember my name, bartender Debbie remembers the way I like my martinis, servers intuitively know what I need and how much attention I need them to shower upon my guests. Hostesses at the door are all beautiful, seasoned professionals that greet me with the same warmth that they greet the business men that come daily. There are many upscale touches that make me feel pampered. Love the white linen-covered tables, candle lit ambiance and power crowd. My favorite steak is the Kona-crusted Sirloin and the original Stoli Doli martini. Have you tried the new Grapefruit Buck cocktail? Delicious. Lounge is always friendly and bustling and they just added three new dining rooms so I can now think about throwing my sister's shower here or planning my own rehearsal dinner here (when I meet Mr. Right in the lounge) in the beautiful new private rooms. Despite the new restaurants opening around town, this continues to be a stellar stand out that effectively overshadows the dining alternatives.

The spicy fried calamari appetizer was good, except that it could use less salt. Both the filet mignon and Delmonico steak was very good, though the latter was a little more to my taste(I have yet to try the Kona sirloin). The streak is huge and the meat is good. The service was definitely good and the atmosphere's pretty nice. The lobster bisque and clam chowder are both very good soups. The side order, mashed potatoes and mushroom sautee was also a nice choice. In general, I liked this place. Surely it is a pricy dinner, but for a special occassion, especially when one's a steak lover, it would be a good choice.

I eat out at restaurants probably five times per week between lunch and dinner so I experience all types and levels of dining (as background).
I am always skeptical of other people's comments about service so I'll sum up this way. Servers are generally nice but their skill lies in their attentiveness to detail. Our particular server could have had an off night because the attention to detail was lacking.
With respect to the food and drink... my third drink was watered down when it arrived and I sent it back. I requested medium rare and got nearly well done and sent that back. The appetizers arrived lukewarm.
We were dining a group of four on a Wednesday night. The bar was 110% full and it seems to me like this place has a halo effect of people saying that they like it just because they realize how much money they spent on it.
I didn't even have to pay for the dinner and it was unsatisfying. When I was recently asked to go back there, I declined. I am sure I should give it another shot because a refined opinion on just one occasion is not possible.
So for now, I rate it just plain 5.0 average.
By the way, the tables are particularly close so if you want to discuss private matters it is difficult.

My husband and I recently dined at The Capital Grille and it was the best night out I can remember having in a long time! The most memorable thing about our visit was the Service we experienced from the moment we walked through the door! There were so many delicious items on the menu and I didn't know what to choose but our server suggested some of her favorites and I ended up getting a Surf and Turf. The Filet was so tender and the Lobster was already taken out of the shell, ready to dip in butter and eat! My husband LOVED his Dry Aged Porterhouse and the creamed spinach was big enough to share! We truly appreciated our server's assistance with our wine selection as well, as the wine list includes every region of the world and every price range! The wine, the food and the dessert were wonderful, and the atmosphere was so friendly and comfortable! I cannot wait to return to The Capital Grille again soon!

My husband and I dines here for our anniversary and we have been craving it ever since. Blows all of the other steak places out of the water (Ruth's Chris, Shula's, Chop House etc...)
Try the Kona Crusted Steak with Carmelized Shallot Butter.....TO DIE FOR!!!
Our server was wonderful and receommended a fabulous bottle of wine.
Yes, it is a bit pricy, but for special occasions, it can't be beat!

I live in Detroit and this is the best steakhouse in town (Mortons is my 2nd favorite but this is better). Start with the Stoli Doli (a fresh pineapple martini to die for). Get the calamari with hot peppers and the lobster appetizer which is split down the middle and served with a lemony mayo. The steak is flavorful but like most really good steakhouses you may consider ordering a bit more cooked if you don't like it too rare and all the classic sides are here. Great wine list although a bit pricey.

I'll admit, it has been a while since I have been here. And we only went once. The night we were there it was so loud in there that we were unable to have a conversation among ourselves. The waitress described my salad options, which I couldn't hear and ended up with one with bleu cheese which I detest, so had to send it back. The steaks were nothing to brag about. And the bill was over $100 for two of us with no alcohol.

I have visited the Captal Grille on several occasions and have been more than impressed each time. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. The best part about the whole place though is the food. The filet being my favorite, it is full of flavor and tender throughout. The sides are delicious (and make sure you share because they are good for about 3 people!), and my favorite of all is the creme brulee. It isn't the thick custard you find elsewhere, it's crave-worthy. Of course there are plenty of other desserts and delicious foods available (the french onion soup crock is huge!) Sure to please anyone looking for a top notch evening.

Everything is on a GRANDE scale with The Capital Grille ... super sized service including guests on a first name basis and a great prompt valet service included, super sized menu of grand tasting entrees filled with absolutely delicious gourmet must-haves! A super diverse never ending wine menu and a grande dining room with high ceilngs yet a warm and cozy feel ... desserts are perfect, especially the Grande Key Lime Pie, which is more like a cheesecake with a scrumptuous Pistachio crust! Yum!

Thanks to ""Big Jon"" who advised me not to, ""Ever trust a waiter"", we had a great time. The variety of wines were amazing. The description of the night's specials couldn't have been more precise. We were intimidated due to our lack of knowledge of the ""fine dining scene"" but were treated like regulars and had a fantastic evening out. We'll be back to see our friends at The Capital Grille! Thanks again!
