Mike did a great job doing a window in my house in Clawson. He offered fair pricing, came when he said he was coming, and cleaned up after the job he offered fair pricing, Highly recommended.

Overall

I hired Mike Johnson to install an egress window in my basement in June 2015. He showed up the day we agreed on to perform the work however, upon asking him about the building permit he was supposed to get, he informed me that he didn't pull one. I told him that a permit is required for this type of work and requested that we postpone the job until one was obtained. He became very upset and tried a few different ways to continue to do that job that day without the permit; promising he had relationships with people in the Building Department who would give him a permit after the job was done, etc. After 20 minutes or so of him pacing my yard he informed me that he was going to leave and come back after the permit was pulled.

An hour after he left he called me and said that it "didn't go his way" and that he does not want to do the job for us anymore. I'm not entirely sure why he was so reluctant to pull a building permit considering he had a whole book worth of references and documentation of his license and insurance however, he chose not to. It seems standard practice for an ethical company to ensure that the work they do is legal and correct. I'm very lucky I knew better and did not allow him to install the window without the permit considering it would have led me to probably a long road of problems for years to come.
