I have realistic expectations when I work with these guys. I am an elite rewards member and do most of my purchases through them. I've never had a problem with geek squad stuff they've always just taken care of me. I've sent several devices to repair and had no issues. People need to realize local computer shops can do things like buy used monitors. There are corporate polices that prevent things like this from happening. If you go in with a realistic expectation and not some uneducated irritated person then you won't have any issues.

Best buy worst service

I flew into Traverse City to visit my father in the hospital.
I foolishly left my laptop in my luggage, padded with clothing on both sides. When I unpacked my bags I saw that they were arranged differently than when I left and my laptop screen was broken.
I went to Best Buy because I had bought my laptop at another location.
The sales staff were rude to me, not wanting to help once they realized I didn't just want to buy a new laptop.
Their so-called ""geek squad"" was also heavy into selling me a new one. They said it would take at least 3 weeks to repair and cost over $300. I realize this kind of breakage is not covered under warranty, but this seems a bit excessive for a laptop that cost less than $600.

I called several local places and found one that would look at my laptop for free, and they quoted me $120.00 for a used screen that looked better than my old one. They had me up and running overnight.
Too bad Best Buy doesn't want to do service on what they sell, at least someone does.
