How many times have you felt like you're part of a cattle call when you see a health care provider? A ray of sunshine, Dr. Bucci is everything you hope for in a pediatrician, except you have to settle for the fact that there is only one of him. He's always up on the latest medical news (known to quote JAMA articles to me during a visit); up with technology, as he uses his stylus and touch screen, jotting notes on his mini laptop; efficient enough that you and your child are not kept waiting for long periods; when it is your turn, gives you his undivided attention and all the compassion you could hope for. And why not? It's the health and well-being of your child at stake. He encourages feedback, returns phone calls, and has selected staff that exhibit a similar level of compassion and sunny dispositions. I know, I know...this guy doesn't sound genuine. My husband thought the same thing when he first met him. Listening to a grown man sing "Round and round the garden..." to my then 2 yr old daughter to distract and comfort her....magically seeing birds or other silly things in their ears when he checked them. But it's been 7 years, and nothing about him has changed. My kids adore him. We're greeted with smiles, handshakes, and sometimes even hugs. He's a family man, and I don't know he derives his energy, other that the pure joy he gets out of running his practice and helping many, many families. Still...can't say enough.
