Good News

There are two main facets of Good News that I can review: The Rock daycare, and the church services. The Rock is spectacular. I wish my daughter were still going here, in fact. The director Lindsay has become a friend in the time after we used the daycare, and she has such an incredible passion for the ministry she's been given that she puts her all into it. It makes sense why the daycare has been so good for so many people and kids for so long. As for the church services, they really feel small town even though they're in the city. Topeka is just a big small town, but some churches here feel much more like they exist in a big city. This place, though, is more of a tight-knit group. Gordon, the pastor, seems to know his stuff, and he has an interesting way of delivering it: during sermons, he prefers to let the crowd fill the last word of many sentences in with their imagination. None of that happens when the message is very specific, only when it's general and needs to cater to individual experiences. I don't know if it comes from him as a person or from his training, but it's really, you know..., and he really reaches..., and we always hear..., and then he always..., and we always..., and anyway the singing reflects how much we like being there. The youth group is a huge part of this place, and it warms my heart to see so many young and big kids involved in ministry. I recommend you check this place out. Really, ignore the bad reviews you see from a decade ago because they're skewed. The daycare isn't what it used to be, and that's a good thing, and the community and services are great, filled with great people who just want to get to know you despite their busy lives.
