Mrs. Gurz received her Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, Mississippi. During law school, Mrs. Gurz received the best paper award in Removal Jurisdiction and Business Associations. She was the Vice-President of the Women's Student Bar Association and the recipient of the Mississippi Women Lawyer's Association Scholarship Award. Mrs. Gurz was an extern for the Mississippi Workers' Compensation Commission where she assisted three Administrative Law Judges. She also assisted the Mission First Legal Aid Office in Jackson, Mississippi. Mrs. Gurz is a member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Society, American Bar Association, and the Georgia Bar Association. Ms. Gurz received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Valdosta State University in political science. She was an intern for Georgia Legal Services in Valdosta, Georgia and a legislative intern for the Georgia State Senate. Mrs. Gurz is married to Michael Gurz, a graduate of Georgia Tech, who is a manager at Heatcraft in Tifton, Georgia. They have two children, Alexis and Elijah. They are members of St. Anne's Episcopal Church.
