Wife picked arrived to pick up a Ditch Witch trencher at the BSE in Tehachapi. The one that was rented to her had a flat tire, they inflatted it and told her to watch it. The starter pull cord was hanging half out but was able to start on a couple of pulls. My neighbors and I shared the cost of the rental to trench at our homes in preperation for Race Communication connection. One neighbor used the trencher for approximately 3.25 hours I was able to use it for 2 hours. Typically the rental is for an 8 hours period so, it's a good idea to not allow the trencher to idle it begins to eat up portions of the 8 hour users time. If you go over 8 hours it's an additional $30.00 an hour. So, it came to a point where i using the on / off switch turn the machine off, as I went to turn it back on the switch Did Not Work. This happened on Saturday evening, half way through my project the next mourning my other neighbor who went in on this trencher was not able to use the broken trencher. Having a trencher that couldn't start was difficult to get on the trailer (trailer was another issue). I had to go purchase a come along to winch the trencher into the trailer. The trailer itself had issues two bald tires and one of two gate bracket not working it was stripped. I had to work Monday morning, I had my 23 year daughter return the trencher to BSE on time at approximately 0800 in the morning. I told her to explain that there is 3 hours remaining of our 8 hours rental cost and reguest that thoughs 3 hours be prorated into a discount to us. Juanita told my daughter that that isn't going to happen and the she's lucky she's not charging us for the broken switch. It's unbelievable that a small town like Tehachapi that has only one rental equipment store would treat us like this. I'm seriously upset about this matter. Renter beware. No rating... shame on BSE!
Benz overall gave me good service, a bit expensive but the delivery was good. UNTIL... I sold my home, they told me they would buy back the propane they just put in the tank at half price but then when the new owner ran in and said he wanted service, Benz just gave him my propane and told me I owed them for topping off the tank. Very unethical business practices ...
Benz is the best for propane delivery in the area (Tehachapi and thereabouts)! First of all, they are customer service oriented. They tell you when the prices are going up and down so you can time your purchase if you have that leeway. They will bill you, and even ask if you want to make payments on your bill. They make frequent deliveries so you don't have to wait. They also know the area well so they don't get lost finding your house. Or tip over on the curving mountain roads like another propane company (not to be named) did last winter. And if these pluses aren't enough, the office staff (Ann and others), the delivery people (David, etc.), and service staff (Don, Russell) are uniformly friendly and professional in all they do. This attitude has to come from the top down, so congrats to the owners and leadership at Benz! Benz has delivered to me in emergencies, lit my pilot lights when I've got air in my lines, and have been consistently nice about everything they've done for me. Benz is an old fashioned American small business at its very best. You go Benz! I'm a fan.
