The Southern Pine Electric Power Association was chartered in 1938 and is one of the largest electric cooperatives in the United States with more than 10,000 miles of energized lines that serve in an area of over 64,000 meters. It offers its services to nearly 480 homes and farms. The association is a nonprofit, member-owned electric cooperative that is comprised of approximately 150 full-time employees. The Southern Pine Electric Power Association serves the community through safety, youth leadership cooperative couples conference and energy assistance programs. Its economic development programs are administered by the Department of Rural Development of the United States Department of Agriculture. The association also works in collaboration with the Electric Power Associations of Mississippi, South Mississippi Electric Power Association, Mississippi Development Authority and Mississippi Economic Council.
