Rob at Checker Cab tells me that they only have 5 cars in their fleet and cover Raynham and Berkley, in addition to Taunton. They have very long wait times, as much as an hour and a half to 2hrs has been my experience. I've frequently had to share a cab with other fares, which means you won't be driven directly to your destination.
I've been calling the cab for years and every time I got picked up it was Car 8 Bill. It was always a pleasure to ride with him. He was super nice and was always safe. He used to pick me up in Dewert, most cab drivers were not liked in there but he was welcomed like family. He treated everyone the same regardless of their race. He didn't take any crap from anyone, but everyone respected him and knew that he could fight anyway. HIs cab was always clean and he treated the public very well but was never recognized for the driver and person he was. Its very sad that I don't see him anymore, its people like him that kept that place going. Always nice..I heard that his boss wasn't nice to the drivers and its really sad that someone like this is gone because he was never appreciated for all he did for the city and us in Dewert. To all of us, he was the best and was #1.
I've had multiple bad dealing with checker now I use uber . They will have you waiting hours! The dispatch guy/lady is rude.if you call asking where your ride is they will say "they already went there"(taxi never showed up),"I forgot to write you down in the taxi log book",and/or believe it or not they told me to walk. I used the taxi to get to work ,I wouldn't mess that up by not being ready for a cab not to show up . It's like all their drivers are on drugs too.use uber !
This is an awful choice to have to make. I believe it is the only cab company in the city of Taunton. I heard that they bought out the only other cab company, Cozy Cab. I guess they never disconnected the phone number? One of the dispatchers is so rude. He changes the rules on when unemployed people are worthy of a cab. Certainly not during commuting hours. He has strong feelings about the unemployed. Having no idea what the circumstances are for that individual. He stands in judgment.The cabs themselves are filthy and run down. The cloth seats are beyond disgusting. They have stains all over them. Even the drivers complain about the company. Really consider waking if at all possible. Who knows what is living in that apulstery?I am from New York and have taken many cans. They use vinyl seats for a reason.Be firm and professional with rude duspathee as he often will send a cab after he is done preaching and complaining. Even in the extreme cold I would rather walk!!
I also had a horrific experience with this company. I don't understand why everyone just complains and does nothing about it. If everyone who had issues fought back maybe checker would not be so horrible to its customers. Perhaps a ton of calls from everyone who has been treated unfairly would work. Calls for a cab that results in no passenger when the cab shows up might wake them up.
Most unreliable cab ever. Called and they never showed up! Thank god after they were an hour late, I called another company.So unreliable. And terrible customer service. The hotel I was at stopped giving their number out after my experience with them. Disgusted!
A checker cab (#5) drove down my street a little while ago, slowed down, and threw a piece of trash out the window into the middle of the street. As if that wasn't ignorant enough behavior, when my husband went out to throw it away, he discovered it was a paper towel with bits of feces on it! I don't even want to venture a guess at what that driver has got going on in his cab. Disgusting. Suffice it to say that if I ever need a cab, I'll walk before calling this company.
A great company. Always on time! The are curteous and proffesional too! I give them 5 stars because they deserve it.
This is the worst business that I've ever had to deal with.the dispatchers are rude.I called to arrange to have my son picked up at taunton high and the rude dispatcher told me "we don't do timed pick ups!call me back when he's standing there ready!" So I did and then he tells me we' Lloyd get there when we get there.they left my son waiting an hour and a half in 90+ heat.when I called after a half hour and hour wait, the a-hole dispatcher said "look lady you're not the only one in the city who needs a cab! It's the first of the month you know.everyone's getting their checks!!" I will never give those dickheads one more penny of my money again
I drive a cab. If you want livery service, pay livery prices. You want the nations best prices you get what you pay for. If they are so bad buy a car and it will lower their burden.
