I was extremely grateful that New Beginnings/New Life Church offered me, (a homeless veteran) a place to stay while I was getting on my feet. Unfortunately, the place was infested with bed bugs and the back yard looked like a junk yard. Also, some Veterans were provided better accommodations than others, such as microwaves and refrigerators, while others were denied these items. When I requested a little more drawer space (I had 3 small drawers, while other vets had whole chests of drawers and more), I was falsely accused of being a complainer, when all I ever expected was equal treatment.Their discriminatory actions were most obvious in their inconsistent policies on the consumption on alcoholic beverages. Several of the "favored" clients were allowed to return to the facility after going out on drunken binges numerous times, whereas when I over indulged due to an extreme emotional crisis and familial upheaval, I was unceremoniously awoken and kicked out of my room in the middle of the night and forced to sleep in the weeds like a dog. The Police were summoned, even though I committed no offences or broke any laws; and my roommate, who had to work the next day, was denied a good night's sleep while my property was stuffed into bags--which broke and damaged several of my irreplaceable family heirlooms. No human being should be treated like that, especially by those who claim to be true followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. The proper, godly way to deal with the situation would have been to wait until morning and allow me to pack my own belongings and exit the facility in a dignified manner. I didn't have a problem with being asked to leave, but the MANNER in which it was handled was anything but "Christian", and I feel that Gary and the other staff members involved should be reprimanded; and if they refuse to acknowledge their wrongdoing and repent, they should be fired. I'm not really surprised at their actions because the Lord himself was mistreated and crucified by those claiming to be righteous followers of God, and He often reminded us to beware of wolves in sheeps clothing. Beware of these facts if you decide to go there.

I came to this church and I was greeted , assisted and welcomed. Not that I wanted extra attention, I just thought that this church is very loving and friendly to newcomers. I loved the Word that was taught. I was blessed by the folks I came to meet that day. God bless you as you minister to the community!
Not for Children with Special Needs! After our child was diagnosed with autism while in the public school, we went to the principal, Jennifer Snow, to see if they could work with our son. She assured us that they would be a great fit for him, based on the smaller class sizes and the quality of teachers. We were so happy find a school that could help and also loved the fact that it was a Christian based atmosphere. He loved it! He attended the second and third grade. His grades were always good and he was willing to do the extra homework that needed to be done to keep up. His challenge was sometimes performing in a classroom setting. But he completed anything that was sent home. He loved his teachers and the students in every grade knew his name. He loved going to chapel and learning about God. Then at the end of the 3rd grade, we were called in a meeting with Mrs. Snow and his teacher. Mrs. Snow said she felt as a school that could not continue to help him. She felt the four grade teacher could not handle a child with autism. She felt that his year-end testing could hurt their overall school score and they need to maintain the highest grade possible. We were devastated! So we were told we would have to find another school. Our little guy stills talks about how much he loved it and does not understand why he had to leave. For the first time he feels there is something wrong with him, because he could not go there anymore. We have found out since then that this has happened to other families that have children with special needs. We wish we would have never put him in Family of Christ. It’s hard to explain to an autistic child that he was not good enough to go to a Christian School. I can’t help but ask “What would Jesus Do” and I think he would find a way to embrace a child who needs a little extra assistance. His end of the year test scores came back higher than grade level in most subjects. But it was sent to us after we were forced to remove him from the school.
Discovery Christian Church is more than a "church." It is family. The Pastor is not some guy who appears from the back of the stage, makes an appearance and then disappears. He is there from setup to break down and he asks people about their lives, he listens and cares. DCC is an informal setting with cafe style seating where you can learn truths straight from The Good Book in a relevant, applicable format. And....the yummy coffee and donuts are a good way to start the day while in the fellowship of great people.
Cheryl the churches Secretary and her daughter Tammy Heffner sells narcotics out of the church. Tammy snorts cocaine in the santcuary and Cheryl allows it. Cheryl also takes money from people for thier community hours. It would be a good church if they got the riff raff out. Cheryl has turned it in to a den of thieves.
I have been part of New Beginnings of Tampa for 6 years now. When I first came to NBT I was in need of some serious help. I found that help at New Beginnings. I am now a staff member and love returning that same love to others that I first received when I arrived. This program works is you want it to. This program will give you all the tools you need.... it up to the client is he will use them.Thank you very much to both Dr. Atchison and all of the New Beginnings Family!
It is with a very saddened heart that I am writing this reviewOn Easter morning I watched a painter paint a picture of a caucasian male and attempt to present it as a depiction of the Lord and Savior. With all of the racial concerns continuing to overshadow the good in this world, I would have expected this church to assist in trying to bring everyone together under our God.It appears (as usual) that a caucasian lead church continues to promote false images to satisfy its own egos and prejudices. Taking on the task of representing the Gospel and its teachings is a serious endeavorExodus 20:4-5,
Hello my name is Matthew Wells. First off I would like to say thank you for taking time to read this message and I hope I be able grow with your Ministry to the next level. Here's a little bit about myself. I have been playing musically since the age of 4. My passion is playing the Drums but I have been trained very well by the Anointing on how to play the Keyboard and how to follow the shifting of the atmosphere. Over the years I have had the chance to play the Drums behind The Canton Spirtuals, Shirley Caesar, Dewayne Woods and Lillian Lloyd. I am currently a Drummer/Band Director in a group called Thee Anointed Voices & Inspiration. I looking to be in a church where not only is my gift making room for me but my Spiritual Life is being worked on to be in Direct Fellowship with The Kingdom. I want it and I need it.. This my only job that God has been allowing to be open for me in this season and I am Married with Two Children. I can play either Drums or Keyboard for the Ministry. Wherever God see fit for me I am ready. Here are some videos of me playing.. I hope you enjoy God Bless and Thank You once again..1.) Beastmode 2k13: http://youtu.be/H3PIjRg2leQ 2.)
