The quality of the food doesn?t match the price they charge. Salmon was poorly cooked and served rather cold. I had to ask them to cook more and heat it up my plate. They didn?t have any asparagus with fish as it is indicated on the menu. The waiter was also rude and inconsiderate.

My husband and I have been coming to Oystercatchers for several years and would NEVER miss the amazing Sunday Brunch. Though pricey, the selection of gourmet foods is unbeleiveable and Mimosas are included. We have tried, but it is nearly impossible to sample every item available. Fresh seafood bar, cook-to-order pasta, ceviche, salads, fresh guacamole and hummus, bagels with alll the fixings, fresh tropical fruits, sushi, hot gourmet entrees, breads and crackers with a selection of cheeses, pastries, made-to-order omelets, waffles, beignet and bananas foster, to the carving station, every item is delicious. Leave room for the dessert room! Pies, cakes, tortes, white and dark gourmet chocolates, toffee, mousse, fresh strawberries to dip in chocolate and others too many to mention! Come with a large appetite and eat slowly while enjoying the view of the bay and wildlife in the adjoining nature preserve.

Wow make reservations 2 weeks out for mother's day, arrive, valet car, go inside and they have no reservations. Someone called to confirm the 10 person reservation 2 times the week of mother's day. They find the reservation at Petey Brown's 30 minutes after we sit in the small lobby. Apparently, They were full, yet made the reservations in another restaurant on the property, but never passed that information on. Talk to manager, he tries to say that the food is the same there and it would be the same. Only reason we chose Oystercatchers as to any other brunch in Tampa was for mother's day was the view. He then suggests we can sit outside in the 95 degree weather. That would have been awesome for my 88 year old grand mother.
Then the food and beverage manager chimes up with the same answers as the manager as to how the food is the same inside petey's as at Oystercatchers. As we should be glad to sit in the lobby of the Grand Hyatt instead of the view of the bay at Oystercatcher's, where we made the reservations. So she says she will get us a shuttle to the hotel for our new accommodations.
She proceeds to open the door for us to leave, as a shuttle pulls up. She shuts the door behind us and as the shuttle pulls away. When we go inside to ask for another shuttle, she is nowhere to be found. Now my whole family, 88 year old grandmother and all are standing in 95 degree weather.
I get my car out of valet, drive to the hotel and send a shuttle to get my family. Thankfully the bellmen and valet department have a little sense as to try and fix a problem that their hotel staff created.
We sit down to eat an hour after our reservation, and find that they have given us a 20% discount for their screw up. That 20% discount went right out the window when we got the bill and saw that they had charged full price for the 2 children at the table.
I had to go and get another shuttle to take my family back to Oystercatchers to get their car out of valet, The service and pride shown by the staff of Oystercatchers, and the food and beverage department should deter even a thought of wasting a cent in that HOTEL.
I don't think that the fly in my water was on purpose, but who knows at this point, so I just pushed the glass to the center of the table.
If you want to be treated as a person at the Grand Hyatt of Tampa, I suggest driving your car to the valet staff, have them park your car, and when they return, give them your ticket, get you car back and drive to the Crab Shack!

This is a waste of a good eating place. The food is overpriced and the tastes like smoke. The service is about the same as at Appbees. The drinks are watery and do not taste like they should. If you like good food, good service and a nice place for a special event with resonable prices... don't go here.

The view alone is a good enough reason to dine at Oystercatcher's. When I went I sat outside and watched the sunset on their beautiful patio and was lucky enough to see dolphins, it was breathtaking. There Calamari fries are amazing, and are by far the best around town. They also have this cocktail called The Floridian, as well as a mango mojito which are both fantastic and all of the bartenders are very friendly and know how to make a great martini. I have dined by myself and have also brought in large parties and have only had superb dining experiences. I also noticed that the manager on duty was making table visits to make sure her guests were completely satisfied, and the wait staff is always very professional and friendly. This is a great place to relax and entertain and I suggest everyone go to enjoy a cocktail and see the sunset!!

So disappointed. Went for dinner on Friday night. It a very posh venue with beautiful views, but that is where my positives end. We would have done better by going to McDonalds. In fact, one of the sauces tasted like Big Mac Sauce that you would take from the packets and squeeze into a delightfully pretty bowl for show. My Swordfish was way overcooked and all sauces were brought on the side for tasting. This meant that the fish itself had no flavor and you had to work to make it taste good. When I am paying that much for a meal I expect it to be prepared for me. Another in the party ordered the Filet which tasted, no joke, like licking a campfire. The smoke flavor was so overpowering that you could not taste the meat. Had we been alone, we would have complained but with the company it was inappropriate. Honestly, I have had better fish and steak at places like Applebees. The crab cakes were edible but as an appetizer we were told was sufficient for four people, much too small. Also, we were told that the sides would be served family style, but they arrived on the plate so we did not share them. So incredibly dissapointed and it stinks that it was $150.00 for two people and a meal we hated.

Had not been to Oystercatchers since the renovation, came to celebrate our 29th anniversary. I entertain professionally at top restaurants around the country so I have high standards for $$$ restaurants. At the ""new"" Oystercatchers, I was not impressed. The HIP new interior feels more Manhattan than Tampa. Fortunately we opted for an outdoor table. For our dinner we shared six lifeless sampler oysters ($18) and followed that with the Paella for 2 ($52). Sadly the Paella arrived lukewarm showing signs of sitting around warming for hours lacking any of the steamy passion you expect in a good Paella.
On the bright side our table on the veranda overlooking the bay and the sunset was spectacular. The highlight of the meal was the sticky date pudding and the warm crusty mini bread loaf, both delicious.
For these prices SideBerns and Mis en Place are much superior dining experiences.
What a great place to dine! The view is absolutely breathtaking. Almost every table has a view. If you want to celebrate a special occasion and you have an appreciation for super fresh seafood this is THE place! I went for lunch with my best friend to celebrate her wedding and she and I loved it! They even had a 3 course lunch that was only $19. I couldn't believe it. They also have a Sunday brunch that I am dying to try. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I can't wait to go back!
Oystercatchers Restaurant in Tampa has added Wine Tastings to their already impressive restaurant! I attended the most recent one ""Tour of Tuscany"" and it was absolutely amazing! It is held in their private dining room overlooking Tampa Bay - what a treat! It is hosted by Thomas DeLuca who is one of the managers and is the wine specialist for the restaurant. He pairs the wines (which have a different theme every week) with the most delicious cheeses I have ever tasted! He answered all of my questions and the questions of all the other guests with knowledge and experience! What a great time! We stayed for dinner after the tasting and found out that in doing so, we received 10% off of our dinner bill...
I WILL be returning for the next tastings!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The classes are Friday nights in August starting at 6:00PM... You have to check this out!!!
