Big Cat Rescue is the largest accredited sanctuary in the world dedicated entirely to abused and abandoned big cats. We are home to over 100 lions, tigers, bobcats, cougars and other species most of whom have been abandoned, abused, orphaned, saved from being turned into fur coats, or retired from performing acts. Our dual mission is to provide the best home we can for the cats in our care and educate the public about the plight of these majestic animals, both in captivity and in the wild, to end abuse and avoid extinction.

Note: Real sanctuaries do not breed, buy, sell, trade nor allow contact with their big cats. Big Cat Rescue is no sanctuary by definitions of the USFWS nor the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. Hmm appears they have bought many of there cats yet The United States Humane Society also known as "global federation of animal sanctuaries" a non government institution has Big Cat Rescue listed as a Sanctuary!? Guess money talks! According to Big Cat Rescues on website 911 animal abuse . com where they defimate there competition use keywords from the names of other organizations through a webpress blog to draw potential donors to there own site basically cause they want the money for themselves then directly causing others to lose funding! Then those facilities can no longer feed and support there animals and there animals starve! This is a place that loves animals? They should be sharing some of there own funding to help other sanctuaries protect there animals neuter there cats so they can stop the breeding and help bring these places up to code instead its corp espionage they are more interested in getting there name attached to every piece of net info and legistlation they can are they helping big cats or hurting them also note that this places doesnt really rescue anything most cat there are bought bred on the compound or were donated to them as well as they have many circus cats that the circus pays rent for the cats to stay there! Not much money goes into the cages there because chicken wire caging "which is very dangerous to the pulic" is not very expensive! And most there other needs are donated so wheres all the money go? Those big holes in the chicken wire fencing allow easy access for visitors to be grabbed by a cat if they get too close! Check out Big Cat Rescue Lies on search for the truth! Busted on local news for making up FAKE rescues stories! Check before you donate!
This is not a zoo. You can not browse at your leisure. This is not the place for the young ones to run around. You can only view during and with a 90 minute tour. No children under 10yrs allowed except on Saterday tours. Call ahead so you won't be disappointed. Only one or two tours per day.
Tours are educational and interesting.
This is a good take if you are interested in learning about exotic cats. The owners and staff are dedicated to caring for injured and unwanted cats.
Big cat rescue owned by Carol Baskins goes after many other facilities and falsely accuse them of acts of animal abuse that she herself does. She has had 118 cats died (that we know of) at her facility and it has been proven that she has taken the dead to a taxidermist to be skinned. She lies about how they died (one tiger was strangled to death during transport but she said that it died from cancer). She is still collecting money for several of the animals that are now dead. She is also collecting money for animals that she is not getting. I have seen picture of skinny, malnourished cats living in tiny, rusty, weakly made cages that are never cleaned out (except for what the poop stick can reach). She collects millions of dollars for the cats but then spend it on things such as big diners and parties. She then attacks other facilities for taking in donations that are actually used for their animals and not for their own selfish wants. I hope that people will start seeing the light and stop supporting her. I also hope that she is shut down and her animals are sent to a better facility, or someone more qualified takes over there after she is thrown in jail.
