Not a good experience

I used to like this restaurant. The location is fabulous. Right on the water inside of the Westin Hotel. One would expect to get exceptional service here but lately the service has been terrible. It seems like someone is cutting corners because they are always out of everything. We ordered 4 different things at the bar that they did not have but they used to have all the time.

just ate here - 4/15/2010

I have been to very many restaurants in the Tampa area, and I was not impressed with this one. Great location, pretty nice ambiance makes for a nice evening out, as long as you are not paying the bill.

I had the black bean grouper - very small portion. You'll get a bigger piece of grouper at Frenchy's, and not pan seared. Blue point oysters were $52 for 2 dozen - what?

Wine list was very nice, and the wait staff was very accommodating. For the money, I would have preferred to dine somewhere else (I was there for a family birthday).

Looked forward to dining out at this new Tampa restuarant but was disappointed from the moment we stepped inside! Made a reservation only to be told by 2 very arrogant hostesses that they could not find our reservation and didn't have any tables available. We were going to just walk away but decided to ask for a manager instead. The young rude hostess told us that other people had also had ""our"" problem that night but she would seat us in front of ""someone who has a reservation"" and we should feel lucky!! I thought my husband would come unglued.....WE DID MAKE A RESERVATION! A simple solution would have been to seat us at the bar for a drink on the house!! But we were seated and told a manager would come speak to us. Our waiter told us he did not have any menus we could look at because the restuarant didn't have enough to go around and we would have to wait until some came available...WHAT??? (I think I would spend a few extra dollars to print off a makeshift menu instead of telling my customers none are available). We waited 20 minutes before we had menus. My husband and I eat out a lot and travel a lot. We were excited that Tampa is finally getting some new modern restuarants. The food was good and our waiter was pleasant......BUT.... a manager never came to our table like the hostess had told us. This seems to be a common problem in the Tampa area.....SERVICE!!! and people wonder why places like this don't make it in the Tampa market. Don't think I will go out of my way to eat here again. The food wasn't so good that I would put up with the unorganized rude service.

Great Service!

Just had a large party there and the service was GREAT. They even allowed us to bring our own wine!! The food was good but too expensive for what they give you. On the other hand, you get what you pay for (most of the time)

This restaurant is all show and no go. Service is slow. The food is average at best and portions are so small they get lost on thoes big plates. You will leave with a headache from the thumping techno music and bizzare lighting scheme. Don't waste your time or money on this poor excuse of a seafood restaurant.

An enchanting evening

We dined with another couple on a Monday night.
The food was outstanding and we had great service!
Don't forget the dessert... it was out of this world!

better than ocean pacific

so i went to ocean pacific or ocean prime restaurant because i was told how great it was and everything but i waited to goto aquaknox before making a comparison. seriously 11 dollars for deviled eggs? i wont talk about op any more because this is aquaknoxes review and because i can't find any postings on this site for them. i am obviously far happier with aquaknox and i will explain why. the location is better and the view adds to the whole experience. the food was for me more special and had better flavor and even looked better. i liked my server and the fact he was not smothering me. i will say the server at the next table was talkinig on and on about nothing and when he went away the people were glad to speak to each other. other than that one thing which was not ""me"", i had a great time and will be back. there were three of us and we spent 350 dollars with a bottle of wine which was 90 something. we had mussels and the chowder then three fabulous fish dishes and even desert. as we were leaving we stopped at the bar lounge and met some people from out of town and they had a great meal too.

finnally a prime seafood place in tampa!

i love seafood and have been hungry for big city quality here in tampa for 8 years. i visited the aquaknox in vegas last year and was excited about tampa getting our own 5 star style seafood restaurant. seriously if another steakhouse come to town i would have..... i arrived with high hopes and was not dissapointed after seeing it is even more beautiful than vegas with the awsome view of the water and interior colors ect... the menu almost all fish and seafood with lobster and shell fish apps to die for. i loved the open kitchen and the dinning room is also open and big not including the outside multilevel patio ""by the beach"". i can see myself with a mimosa sunday mornings ""waterside"" for breakfast; but that will be another day. my dinner was great and i have high standards from drinks to food and service. i will let you decide for yourself.
i will be back.

Beautiful place

We went to Aquanox for Valentine's Great atmosphere, beautiful place. We had the Valentine's menu ( we never were told we can had the regular menu). The tuna tartar, crab cakes and main course were delicious and perfectly cook, salad was very poor and dessert was awful .the staff was very nice & curteous however they lack a bit of organitation and rythm. I am sure it is do to a been a new place.

Great service, very clean, great atmosphere, and the food is full of flavor.

Last night we went out for my birth day and I wanted fresh food, I didn't want fresh to frozen and the thawed to fresh. So my wife found AQUAKNOX over on the causeway located in the Westin. It just opened 3 or 4 days ago and they have an excellent menu. The food was great, portions were just right and not too big, and the flavor was enjoyable and the price was right for a birthday dinner. We had two appetizers, two entrees, with a bottle of wine, and for dessert they gave us the creme brulee for free (birthday, no singing thank god) and the wife had a great chocolate port wine, and the waiter offered me a glass of Cointreau Noir (orange flavored Cognac), currently only available in restaurants. The bill was over 100 dollars, and I know that's a lot of cash but we don't go out to eat much so when we do we make sure it's a good place to eat.

The chef came out and asked how we were, as did the manager, and the help was right there too. They pushed in our chairs and they also noticed to bring out a black napkin for our black attire instead of leaving the white ones. The manager was very knowledgeable and I do believe they will be successful.

Great view at night, and the atmosphere is nice a addition for a Tampa area.

With the super bowl in town I do believe this place will be busy.

If you go you can request ""Rodolfo Loureiro"" as your server.
