Before joining Coppins Monroe, Ladasiah worked for the Florida Department of Management Services, Division of Retirement (The Florida Retirement System) where she represented the agency in various administrative hearings before the Division of Administrative Hearings (DOAH), various Circuit Courts around the state, the district courts of appeal and the Florida Supreme Court. Ladasiah also worked for the Florida Department of Revenue- Child Support Program, the Florida Attorney General’s Office in the Administrative Law Bureau and the Florida Department of Financial Services.
Mr. Monroe joined the firm as a shareholder in 1993. He has practiced law in Florida for over 20 years. In 2005 Mr. Monroe transitioned to Of Counsel status with the firm. Mr. Monroe has extensive experience in civil trial litigation. He has represented numerous public and private sector clients on issues involving Law Enforcement Liability, Wrongful Death, Civil Rights Defense, School Board Defense, Government Defense, Insurance Defense, Employment Litigation, Title VII Discrimination, Professional Malpractice, and other claims. Following graduation Mr. Monroe served as a law clerk to the Honorable Winston E. Arnow, Senior United States District Judge for the Northern District of Florida. Mr. Monroe is a member of numerous local and national bar associations (including the Defense Research Institute and Florida Defense Lawyer’s Association-Past Chair, Employment Law Committee). Mr. Monroe is a charter member of the Tallahassee Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
Sex Crimes
Prior to joining the firm, Nick worked at a local insurance defense firm where he focused on civil rights defense, law enforcement liability, and medical malpractice. Prior to that, Nick was an Assistant State Attorney for approximately 7 years, where he gained extensive jury trial experience and was entrusted with handling cases involving murder, sex crimes, crimes against children, and other violent offenses.
Misdemeanors
After graduation from law school, Will worked as an Assistant State Attorney in Tampa, trying a number of misdemeanor and felony criminal jury trials. In 2012, Will moved to Tallahassee to work with the Florida Attorney General’s Office in the Consumer Protection Division where he focused on consumer privacy and multi-state investigations and litigation.
Coppins Monroe was founded in 1992 as a civil litigation practice with a special emphasis on representing governmental entities and private business. The firm consists of 10 lawyers, specializing in governmental representation, civil rights, labor and employment, construction, education, healthcare, business law, arbitration and mediation.
Will represents private and governmental entities in all areas of civil litigation including tort claims, employment discrimination, breach of contract, and various other causes of action. He joined the firm in 2016.

Gwen Adkins is a highly qualified and experienced litigator focused on training, counseling, and defending businesses – private, public, and non-profits – in civil matters of all descriptions but namely civil rights defense, employment discrimination, §1983 litigation, civil trial law, negligence, auto and premises liability, business and commercial litigation, non-compete agreements, police liability defense, law enforcement, Title IX, and a number of areas of local government defense.
Sexual Harassment
Holly is a frequent trainer and lecturer on sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, FMLA compliance, and other employment matters. She has assisted clients in the interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements and has assisted in policy development—including the development of entire employee handbooks, policy manuals, leave policies, sexual harassment/discrimination polices, grievance procedures, drug-testing policies, etc. She has drafted and litigated restrictive covenant/non-compete cases on both sides. She has conducted internal employee investigations, prosecuted claims of employee misconduct, and litigated public employee misconduct charges before the Florida Division of Administrative Hearings (“DOAH”) and local civil service boards. She provides routine day-to-day advice to governmental and corporate clients on matters of employee rights, discipline, terminations/severances, and hiring matters. She routinely attends and resolves claims at pre-suit and post-suit mediations on behalf of her clients.
Constitutional claim experience under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 includes First Amendment (defense of preliminary injunctions and suits concerning speech, association, retaliation, and the Establishment Clause), Fourth Amendment (excessive force, false arrest, unlawful search and seizure), Eighth Amendment (deliberate indifference/medical deliberate indifference), Fourteenth Amendment (procedural and substantive due process), Fifth Amendment (takings), and more. Employment experience includes representation of clients before the EEOC/FCHR and in litigation concerning all manner of employment discrimination and retaliation claims (race, age, sex, color, religion, disability, etc.) as well as whistleblower, workers’ compensation and FMLA retaliation claims, and general advice and counsel regarding HR policies and procedures. Tort experience includes negligence, personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, premise liability, defamation, intentional torts, property damage, and many more. Business experience includes representing clients with formation, dissolution, contracting, and other business disputes/issues of all kinds.
Michael’s extensive civil litigation experience in state and federal courts—both trial and appellate—includes commercial and business law, real property litigation, employment litigation, probate litigation, professional malpractice, construction litigation, healthcare litigation, and tort litigation of all kinds. He has litigated negligence claims including automobile accidents, slip/trip & falls, premise liability, wrongful death, personal injury, and product liability, as well as claims for civil conspiracy, fraud, trespass, nuisance, conversion, replevin, negligent supervision, and negligent retention. Michael was involved in the prosecution of the milestone negligence case Tallahassee Furniture Co., Inc. v. Harrison, 583 So. 2d 744, 749 (Fla. 1st DCA 1991), which defined the boundaries of employer negligent retention claims in Florida. He served as trial and appellate counsel in White Construction Co., Inc. v. Dupont (Fla. 1984), which established Florida standards for the imposition of punitive damages. He also served as lead counsel in Bilek v. TMRMC (Leon County Circuit Court Case No. 91-973), which attained national recognition on the subject of economic credentialing of physicians by hospitals. Michael’s litigation experience has also included cases involving intentional torts such as assault, battery, defamation, interference with business relationships, infliction of emotional distress—among others.
