Overall

This is a horrible place run by a pot-bellied, white-haired government official devoted to running it as a Kill-First center. I visited in order to adapt a cat but was met with unexplained hostility for showing interest about the adaption process. Check out their site on talgov and see their kill rate for yourself. Please beware that calling the city to deal with a stray will likely get them executed in this unsanitary dungeon.

Sadly, these animal are not kept in great conditions. I would love to say that at 100 per dog you'd get a healthy one, but that just isn't the case. My husband and I took home a 1 year old shih-poo that we fell in love with. During the adoption process, she began to wheeze and cough like crazy. Thankfully we caught it in the office because I fear if we would have taken her home we would have gotten no assistance. The front desk lady looked at us like oh great, thought we were getting rid of an animal and these people have found something wrong with her. kennel cough is described as being a cough the animals get from UNSANITARY CONDITIONS. Like poop being in the cages for too long and being in the cage itself too long. and it spreads like wildfire through a kennel. Due to our shih-poo not particularly liking our toddler, we had to return her. We were told that in under a months time if you were not happy bring the dog back for a refund. It has been a month since then and I called today to let them know that I hadn't received it in the mail. (by the way, they don't just hand you a 100 dollar bill...you wait for it.) She told me it can take up to THREE MONTHS to get a refund and that she could NOT give me the number of the person in charge of it. i asked is there anyway to see if it is on the way or if it ever even got sent. She replied the same way, no way I can give you the number to who knows about your money. i love dogs to dearly and would adopt a million if i could, but someone seriously needs to take over this place. It is ridiculous. My advice, DO NOT adopt from this place unless you're prepared to care for a sick dog and lose money...maybe indefinitely, we'll see.
