I took a dress (simple dress costs me $60 to purchase) to Design Alternation Inc. I tried it on, and asked for the dress to be shortened and hemmed, the owner went ahead and cut my dress right then and there! It's just so random and the cut was not even. Then, I still thought maybe that's normal, so I took the dress off and asked how much it will cost to do the hem job. She gave a quote of $45. This dress doesn't even have a lining, so I found it ridiculous to ask for that much when most of the dress hemming cost around $15-$30. I decided not to let her hem my dress, but the owner said she has already started the work, which is the messy cutting that took her 30 seconds to do. So if I wanted it back, I had to pay $20 for that work. I said that's ridiculous, and she decided to high jack my dress and took it inside to her work office and not come out! I still tried to reason with her, but she wouldn't listen and started to yell how "she's a special worker that deserves a special price. You would have gotten a super worker, but now it will be just just a normal worker." Nothing she said made any sense and it's just outright crazy. I had to go outside and called the police to try getting my dress back, and even when the police came she still refused to give my dress back. Well, I guess I just have to suck it up and buy another dress. Since I asked her to not work on my dress and she refused to give my dress back, my dress is technically stolen by her. She's not going to get a dime from us now! I went to this place after listening to my husband because it is closer to where I live. I should have just taken the dress to alteration etc, as they always give a fairly reasonable price. If the owner had just given me my dress back, at least she would still have our business as my husband often takes his suits to her, but now we will definitely not come back.

Maura Ulloa DBA Sewing Creations by Maura is a con woman who ripped me off for hundreds of dollars in hugely inflated charges and ruined $1,200.00 of my clothing. I later took my items to a reputable tailor in town and he said he has never seen such subpar work-- uneven stitching, uneven sleeve lengths, unfinished sections, shredded fabric and holes in fabric that were not there prior. I sued her for the damages she caused to my clothing with her sloppy, subpar work and she had the nerve to countersue with some trumped up charges with no basis in fact, which constitutes abuse of process. Other online reviews show that Maura Ulloa has a longstanding practice of quoting one price, doubling that price upon delivery, and then holding clothing hostage in an extortion scheme. One reviewer stated, "Maura tried to steal the dress out of my bridesmaid's hand, and played tug-o-war with it (even though she knew we were waiting for the cops to get there) The police man even had a difficult time with her, and almost had to arrest her. It was an absolute nightmare..." Maura is a despicable, nasty, unethical woman. Steer clear!
Fantastic job at a reasonable price; not to mention I realized my Easter dress was too big only 4 days before Easter. Great job, super fast!
This business is excellent. The tailor is extremely skillful and a pleasure to talk to. She is also very reasonably priced.
