I overall enjoyed my stay at Hanging Rock. The campground area is beautiful and there is plenty of shade to go around! There is also very easy access to the river to cool off in the heat of the summer. However, I was very disappointed in the restrooms on the property. I know it is a campground and not a 5 star hotel... but there are some things that are just unacceptable. For $10 per person per night (That is $40 total for 2 people, 1 tent, 2 nights... on the higher side of what I want to pay to tent camp ), I expect the minimal amount of cleaning to be performed so that I am not afraid to touch anything in the bathrooms. No hot water for showers (understandable), Active wasp nests right next to the shower head (10 wasps included), and many many cobwebs all over the room (including all around the toilet paper dispenser). The only thing I saw the staff do on a daily basis is change out the trash. It wouldn't take 10 minutes to wipe some cobwebs with a broom, knock a wasp nest off, and a quick sweep/mop job.
I would like to return to hanging rock, but would like to return to cleaner bathrooms.

The older reviews are correct. However, its a new owner and a new day at Hanging Rock! It rocks again! Clean showers and restrooms. The campground is immaculate, the cabins have been cleaned up. Its one of the farthest upstream outfitters so the river isn't as crowded. We were totally pampered! Maybe I shouldn't rave so much. I don't want the campground to be full next time I go? Easy river access, too so you can play i the water whenever you want. You can get beer, ice etc at the main building and some AWESOME BBQ. Feels like home.

This is not a place i will ever go to again or ever recommend to family and friends to come too.I was there this past weekend for a big family reunion,an the bathrooms were deplorable.Very nasty an unhealthy with raw sewage coming out of the top an bottom of the stools. When we would complain about the conditions of these restrooms, alls they would do is bring tissue down, nothing more. They make alot of money from this reunion with hundreds of people showing up,the least they can do is maintain a clean restroom. How much is a bottle of bleach or lysol compared to the money they made off us. Folks beware before u use this campground,it is nasty an unsanitary for u an your family.

We were invited to a large Family Reunion that is held at this camp every year for 32 years! Everything was fine as far as the activities and family fun a of get together of this nature! But I have to write this review in hopes that the Owners will get the message, since they wouldn't listen to our complaints while we were there over this past weekend! I along with many other Family Members were totally horrified at the Sanitary Conditions of the 2-standing bathrooms and shower stalls! Raw sewage coming out from the bottom of the Ladies Room in one of Bathrooms, the Mens Room on the other side had a stopped up toilet with Feces and toilet paper over-running in the toilet. The men were having to use the ladies room (ugh) :((, which was not much better with standing contaminated water in the floor. When they came to (so-call) service the restrooms, the only thing they did was leave toilet paper and sweep the sewage water out the door! We made a point to complain to them every chance we got to let them know that these unsanitary conditions are not acceptable, and pose a very serious "Health Threat"! They didn't seem to be concerned about it, and so therefore I'm hoping they get the message loud and clear, especially when we & others call the Health Dept. about these horrible conditions. These sanitary problems could be easily fixed with a minimum of $$, if that is their problem? But I think they must be a little on the greedy side of the fence, this year as I understand it.....there were over 300 people for just this weekend alone at $35.00 a head, and last year there were over 800 people. So it sounds to me like they don't won't to give up any of that easy money for just the very
basic of maintaining a clean and healthy place for their customers to come and enjoy a weekend away, or a Big Family Renunion. Whatever the case may be??? I'm still horrified at the very thought of what kind of health threat we and our Family Members may have been subjected to!!!!!! :((((
Of course if you came in a big fancy RV, or had your own shower & toilet, as I seen some of the other tenters/campers
doing....this would not affect you! Unless you were concerned for others who didn't come prepared with their own showers and or toilets...that only came with tents and what they could load in their vehicles. This is just totally deplorable....I can't scream loud enough about this! :((((
So Folks....if you don't have a RV, Popop, Your Own Shower and Toilet......don't go to this place!!!! There are plenty
of fine clean campgrounds just up the road with nice clean campgrounds, showers and bathrooms!
I RATE THIS PLACE A MINUS ZERO -0!!!!
