Love that good southern cooking, but yall close mad to early. I am out in the south seattle area and would love to come sit down and enjoy some good food but by the time i would be able to make it out that way yall closen your doors.. Stay open LATER PLEASE...

Good food and it was fun to try unfamiliar food. Service was good and I would recommend it!

the service is so painfully slow it makes waiting for mediocre soul food seem like a stupid thing to do.

We lived in East Tennessee for three years before moving here, and I have to say that by southern food standards set in that part of the road, Southern Kitchen would be considered middle of the road. The food was all solid and filling, without any real standouts in terms of great cooking or taste.

Sure it is gritty in there. You may have to ask for another fork. The food is greasy and delicious. Hands down, the best comfort food in central Tacoma.

This is some great authentic soul food. The red beans and rice are sublime and the catfish has this perfect taste and texture. The people there are very nice. Cool your jets though. Although the service is prompt, getting your food takes time, but it is well worth it. If you have kids who can't sit still indefinitely at a restaurant, don't miss out, just call ahead and get some take out.

The food is excellent, so delicious, too many words to describe the goodness. Growing up in the South I know first hand the meaning of good home cooked food. The sweet tea is exactly sweet not bland like most one taste. If you want real dirty south cooking then definitely visit one of the hottest place in the Puget Sound.

Southern Kitchen is one of my family's favorite places to eat. The staff makes you feel like you are at home and the food definately tastes like a home-cooked meal. Like ture good food dont go if you dont have a while to stay because this attention to detail takes time.

When you eat here, you get the feeling that the owners care about the restaurant business. The food is good and prices reasonable.

great breakfast

My family and I had breakfast at the Southern Kitchen yesterday morning for my grandmother's birthday and as usual, the food was excellent! This was the first time I've had their breakfast but it did not disappoint! The food was just as good as it is during the later hours of the day. The service is always great, even though they do get pretty busy. The prices are fair and I love the relaxed atmosphere. This place will continue to be one of my favorites!
