This is a situation involving my wife about the staff and how they handled a situation at Birth to Five Early Learning Center. My wife got berated by police because of misinformation fed to them by the staff at this establishment. A child (2.5 yrs old) my wife was babysitting walked out the back door and was picked up and taken to Five Early Learning Center just down the street. My Wife took all the precautions and actions to locate her and ended up at the learning center with the apartment staff and maintenance crew. The Learning center employee would not relinquish the child and called the police claiming that they spoke to the child's mother and that the mother said not to release her to my wife the babysitter. This is wrong because they have no way of knowing who the child's mother is or a way to contact her. This escalated the way the police responded as they interrogated my wife for a half hour being while very verbally abusive. After the mother was really contacted they released her into my wife's care. We then learned that the staff changed the childs diaper after they requested to and my wife told them that they did not have permission to. The staff claimed she was a little wet and my wife refused to allow them to change her though they did so anyway. The staff continuously requested my wife's information to try to manipulate the situation into a federal claim. They were upset when the police refused to give them this information and told the police that they were not doing their duty (this is what the police told us when one came to apologize once they discovered that the claims the staff were making were false). The officers talked to the person who initially found the child and deduced that the child was only unattended for 9 minutes. The abuse of power that the staff at Five Early Learning Center tried to impose was uncalled for, caused emotional trauma to both the child and my wife and caused confusion for the officers.
The owner Sondra has been great , if you have a concern she immediately addresses it . The facility is huge , and clean . Staff is friendly and professional. I have no complaint .
bad place. don't take your kids there. unequipped to handle children with special needs and very high turnover of staff from week to week
Abuse is never OK unless you work at this daycare apprantly
THE OWNER IS HONESTLY MENTALLY UNSTABLE ALONG WITH HER STAFF/DAUGHTERS. Without effort she will tell you that she is on me D's for her illness. Her place is beyond filthy and is based on her ideal visual set up it is obvious the children in her care is not gaining any structure or educational gains. I was dissatisfied with what I saw from the looks of the outside play area and when I walked in the door just the stench alone made my skin crawl. TheRe were toddlers playing with potential choke hazards. The young lady who owned the place prior to Oma's was who I was looking for only if she could see it now WHAT A MESS! It's obviously about money for that lady not the children! Whose her licensor by the way?
my Daughter has been in the care of this great staff since she was born. they have been not only a child care but an extended family in helping raise my daughter. her mother and i could not be happier. she starts kindergarten next year and Miss Tabitha has given her the best start. atmosphere price and quality all great thank you-
This is the "best daycare" center in Tacoma or pierce county we've seen after touring many daycare centers in the area. The facility is very clean and safe. The teachers there are very friendly and they're very good with my children and other kids.. My wife and I are thankful we found this daycare for our kids even though it's a bit far from where we live, but we're willing take the extra commuting time just to take our kids to this daycare because we love the security, safety, cleanliness and all the friendly teachers. We also love the fact that they have 24-hour security cameras not only in parking lot, they also have many security cameras in their outdoor play area and in every classrooms.. The owners of this daycare are also very nice and accommodating to us, they are accessible even on weekends and week nights and they even gave us their personal cell numbers just in case we have any questions which is is really nice . It shows that the owners really care about children and their customers.. Great place for kids.....
Recently toured this center and my child will not be attending. The director, Jen seems nice. They have very reasonable rates and are flexible with scheduling and drop ins. However the other staff member, in the toddler room, had a shirt on which literally allowed for about 6 inches of her stomach to hang out over her jeans.. Not a good look for any work environment. It's a very small place, yet unfortunately lacking in charm. Most of the toys were pretty ragged and the carpet was dirty. Some of the kids were napping on matts about 5 feet from the front door. It seems the lack of space causes things to be very cramped. There are definitely worse, yet definitely better places out there. Hope this helps anyone looking.
not happy with their services, currently looking for a new daycare!!
