Sylmar Elementary School, established in 1954, serves the educational needs of students in prekindergarten through five. The school has an enrollment of more than 900 students and offers a variety of special education classes for talented and gifted students. It teaches a variety of subjects, including math, social studies, arts and crafts, science and technology, computer science, music, health education, English and physical education. It also offers parent education classes and after school programs. The school s library has a wide collection of fiction and nonfiction books, subject books, magazines and reference material for teachers. It also operates a fully equipped science laboratory and organizes science fairs. Sylmar Elementary School is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District and is located in Sylmar, Calif.
