Established in 1976, California Theatre Center is a not-for-profit professional theatre company, providing hall and auditorium facilities. Based in Sunnyvale, Calif., the company conducts several programs annually for students and families. It also hosts shows by touring theater groups that perform regionally, nationally and internationally. The company has showcased plays, such as The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Alexander and The Terrible, The Elves & The Shoemaker and I Don't Want To Go To Bed. The center aims at instilling an early appreciation of literature and the fine arts in tomorrow's artists and citizens while providing educational opportunities and training in the theatre arts. The California Theatre Center season runs from September until July and presents 15 to 20 plays; more than 500 performances to an audience of more than 80,000 yearly in California's Santa Clara Valley and an additional 130,000 on tour.
