My stay was for four nights. When arriving at the hotel the musty smell was the first thing I noticed. The hotel is over a numbers years old so I thought it might be normal for its age. The staff was very pleasant, but the desk is tucked way back in the lobby. I was very disappointed with the rooms. I had a two bed room shared with a co-worker. The room was spacious, however, the sink located in the room. The windows were filthy on the outside. The bathroom is no bigger than a closet with no bath, just a shower stall that is so small it was difficult to wash myself. There was only one three drawers located in the tv cabinet which meant one of us had to "live out of our suitcase". The architecture is charming, but it appears that many of the period touches have been removed over the years. The moldings in the rooms are very plain and dont represent the period the hotel was built. I usually do not mind sacrificing comfort for architecture, however, I take exception this time because it was inconvenient.

We were pretty disappointed because for a Hilton, it just wasn't what we expected. Our usual pick for SLC hotels is Little America, and they are awesome! The only reason I didn't go with my regular choice is because I thought I would give PriceLine a shot. When we arrived it was shocking to hear we had to pay an additional $13 per night for parking! That would never happen at Little America, you are already paying to stay at the hotel and guest parking should be included. Also, our bed was only a Queen size, when it was supposed to be a King. And I think they might judge their PriceLine customers, because the view outside of our window was a bunch of electrical equipment. Not very nice to look at....Other than that, it was alright. Walking distance from shopping and great restaurants.
I recently stayed at the Pavilion Inn while my dog was being treated at the Utah Pet Center. The hotel is conveniently located a short distance away. The lobby is warm and welcoming with a nice stone fireplace. The staff is friendly and courteous. I didn't spend much time in my room, but it was clean, the bed was extremely comfortable and they had a nice selection of amenities. Since I am a woman traveling alone, I especially appreciated the fact the rooms open to an interior hallway. I felt safe and secure and wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Pavilion Inn again in the future.
Love downtown SLC! My wife and I don't get a chance to go out very often but when we do we always stay at The Red Lion. It's clean, safe and in the middle of alot of cool bars and resturants. We stayed there for the first time when we flew in from Cali and it was one of the few Hotels that had a shuttle to and from the airport. Now we live here and when we party downtown we like to stay there so we dont have to drive. You're in walking distance of most places or you pay very little for a cab. Besides theres a great bar at the Hotel.
I have stayed at the Carlton several times and have always found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. They serve a good breakfast which is included in the price and the price is better than many other hotels in the area. I do genealogy and they provide wonderful shuttle services to the library every day. The rooms may not be deluxe, but they are clean and very adequate. My friend and I plan to go back there this Spring for over a week.
Great location and within walking distance to many restaurants and bars. The hotels is a few blocks from the UTA Trax. It only costs $2.50 to ride the UTA Trax to Gallivan Plaza from the airport and then a few blocks walk to the hotel. The room I had at the hotel was nice and modern and comfortable.
I love coming to the Garden Cafe. I usually go for breakfast or lunch with clients because they have the best service and the prices are really affordable during the day. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Good food, good atmosphere but if you are in a hurry don't get pancakes. ours took 20 minutes
bit pricey (its upper crust though )
